Upd8: Move over, Undertale! Homestuck just learned how to fly a plane!
ZoZo's Bizarre Adventure, or ZZBA, is a massive, multimedia project which started as a simple inside joke among friends, but quickly spiraled out of control and is now trying to compete with Homestuck, among other things.
ZoZo's Bizarre Adventure follows the misadventures of TC Strider and his friends. These misadventures range from exposing a secret Illuminati conspiracy going on in the school's basement, fending off the rising tension between two nations who will inevitably go to war, or even playing a video game that causes the world to end in order to stop an evil vampire from ending it herself. The project began on January 26, 2017, and has been going strong since. Debatably, it is the longest project series creator and author Levi H. has ever begun, and he's showing no signs of stopping--a rather impressive feat for someone who abandons every other story after the first paragraph.
Of course, the main source of inspiration for ZZBA is, well, my own life and experiences. Several details, be it a throwaway gag or an entire plot point, were inspired by something which occurred or was said/done in my life or among my friends. In fact, the majority of characters are, in fact, inspired by my friends and I, often even down to the name. I mean the whole series started because I wanted to jokingly write a fanfiction about what was debatably the biggest ship in my school at the time. Now, let's address the other elephant in the room. Yes, if you replace the J's in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure with Z's, you get ZoZo's Bizarre Adventure. I just thought something along the lines of, Well, if I'm going to be a weeb about this, why not name it after a relatively popular Japanese franchise? After all, half of Zoie's name rhymes with Jo. And so, a genius pun was born. But I kept rolling with it. The stand-in for Zoie was named Zonathan Zoestar, or ZoZo. The story is told in parts, each with a subtitle which distinguishes each other using cheesy romance puns. And, of course, the biggest inspiration not just for ZZBA, but for my aspiration to become an author in general has to be, without a doubt, Homestuck. Part 3 is told in acts and intermissions, similar to Homestuck. In fact, ZZBA and Homestuck have some similar DNA, but ZZBA's just different enough to legally be considered parody. Homestuck is what many refer to as a "webcomic," but it likes to disguise itself as a video game, especially when there are games to play within it. ZZBA, however, is a story (fanfic...? (friendfic?????)) which likes to disguise itself as an anime. Though it is split in acts (at least in Part 3), ZZBA is more accurately split into different arcs and subplots. The act structure was merely meant to give the illusion of mirroring Homestuck, as much of Part 3's plot does. On top of that, ZZBA is split into parts, as an anime or manga would typically be (JoJo, Dragon Ball, Naruto, etc.), and the soundtrack even includes openings and endings, many ripped straight from famous anime.
