Check out this tutorial as Video CoPilot: Earth Zoom. Set it up like he does, then if you are having too many decimal points, you can always throw in an extra null, and parent to that and start scaling again.
Hey Greg, i know this is an old post but i was wondering if you had any success with the zoom quilt, i have recently came across zoomquilt.org and am truly fascinated by it, i have found about 10 different zoom quilts in total ( which is very low in my opinion) and no tutorials about it, i did also look into the zoom earth effect and was wondering if you used those techniques to create one?
