The optic nerve head can morphologically be differentiated into the optic disc with the lamina cribrosa as its basis, and the parapapillary region with zones alpha (irregular pigmentation due to irregularities of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) and peripheral location), beta zone (complete RPE loss while Bruch's membrane (BM) is present), gamma zone (absence of BM), and delta zone (elongated and thinned peripapillary scleral flange) within gamma zone and located at the peripapillary ring. Alpha zone is present in almost all eyes. Beta zone is associated with glaucoma and may develop due to a IOP rise-dependent parapapillary up-piling of RPE. Gamma zone may develop due to a shift of the non-enlarged BM opening (BMO) in moderate myopia, while in highly myopic eyes, the BMO enlarges and a circular gamma zone and delta zone develop. The ophthalmoscopic shape and size of the optic disc is markedly influenced by a myopic shift of BMO, usually into the temporal direction, leading to a BM overhanging into the intrapapillary compartment at the nasal disc border, a secondary lack of BM in the temporal parapapillary region (leading to gamma zone in non-highly myopic eyes), and an ocular optic nerve canal running obliquely from centrally posteriorly to nasally anteriorly. In highly myopic eyes (cut-off for high myopia at approximately -8 diopters or an axial length of 26.5 mm), the optic disc area enlarges, the lamina cribrosa thus enlarges in area and decreases in thickness, and the BMO increases, leading to a circular gamma zone and delta zone in highly myopic eyes.

Following stellar point spread function (PSF) subtraction, the brightest features in the images are systematic artifacts (see Fig. 2 and Supplementary Fig. 1). The most significant artifact is detector persistence accumulated during the chopping sequence. The second most significant artifacts that appear in the final images are negative arcs due to optical ghosts (reflections) of the off-axis PSF of  Centauri A that are introduced by the dichroic beam-splitter and spectral filter. These artifacts limit the overall image sensitivity and increase the false positive probability within specific regions. To improve the overall image sensitivity, we modeled and subtracted each of the known artifacts (see Supplementary Fig. 1). The full-frame image prior to artifact subtraction and a zoom-in on the habitable zone following artifact subtraction are shown in Fig. 2.

The alpha release allows software developers, state stakeholders, and other NGS partners and customers to see SPCS2022 as it evolves toward completion. It also provides an opportunity to give feedback during the final stages of development, to ensure that SPCS2022 is an optimally designed part of the modernized NSRS.

Methods.: The clinical observational comparative study included 80 normal eyes of 46 subjects and 80 eyes of 46 patients with primary open-angle glaucoma. Both groups did not vary significantly in axial length (P = 0.62) and refractive error (P = 0.30). Color fundus photographs and cross-sectional B-scan images obtained by EDI-OCT were examined. On the EDI-OCT images, we measured a gamma zone defined as the region between the temporal disc margin to the beginning of Bruch's membrane, and a beta zone defined as Bruch's membrane without retinal pigment epithelium.

The 5610 LED digital world time zone clocks have 5 character user changeable Multi-Color Dot matrix LED time displays with a ten character user changeable Multi-Color Dot matrix digital zone label below.

The time can be programmed for 12 or 24 hour format and the zones will be laid out left to right based on the Time/date. You will provide the time format and zone names that you wish and select the remote type upon checkout.

Right now the time zone that is returned is the only time zone you will receive from the API. However, if you're pulling the data in with a python script. You can always convert it to your time zone of choice.

For the game at the club I wrote a brief intro to the game (which I can post if people want) and made up four forces for the players to use: two military, one scientist and one bandit. After a quick run through of the rules they teams set off to revover the protyped weapon left cached by a previous expedition into the zone. I purposely ignored the Allies and Enemies rules for this game, mainly as it was a one off zero sum mission it would added more combat to get the players better used to the rules.

If we can find such an Earth-analog around one of the stars in the immediate solar neighborhood, we could potentially even study it in such great detail to address the question of its potential habitability. Several groups have focused their planet detection efforts on the nearest stars. Our team is currently performing an intensive observing campaign on the alpha Centauri system using the Hercules spectrograph at the 1-m McLellan telescope at Mt John University Observatory (MJUO) in New Zealand. The goal of our project is to obtain such a large number of radial velocity measurements with sufficiently high temporal sampling to become sensitive to signals of Earth-mass planets in the habitable zones of the two stars in this binary system. Over the past years, we have collected more than 45,000 spectra for both stars combined.

These data are currently processed by an advanced version of our radial velocity reduction pipeline, which eliminates the effect of spectral cross-contamination. Here we present simulations of the expected detection sensitivity to low-mass planets in the habitable zone by the Hercules program for various noise levels. We also discuss our expected sensitivity to the purported Earth-mass planet in an 3.24-d orbit announced by Dumusque et al.~(2012).

Zone Alpha "Green Globe" is the Stage 1A of the beginning game, it takes place on the Planet Amnelia around one of the coastal cities. This stage has many bridges and they will break into pieces. The falling debris, however, will not harm you. This zone splits into Area A and Area B.

In 2016, scientists discovered a roughly Earth-size world circling Proxima Centauri, part of the three-star Alpha Centauri system, which lies about 4.37 light-years from Earth. The planet, known as Proxima b, orbits in the "habitable zone," the range of distances from a star at which liquid water could exist on a world's surface. (A second planet, Proxima c, was later discovered circling the star as well, but it orbits farther away, beyond the habitable zone's outer limits.)

NEAR has been searching for planets in the habitable zones of Alpha Cen A and B using ESO's Very Large Telescope (VLT) in Chile. The NEAR team upgraded the VLT with several new technologies, including a thermal coronagraph, an instrument designed to block a star's light and allow the heat signatures of orbiting planets to be spotted.

After analyzing 100 hours of data gathered by NEAR in May and June of 2019, the scientists detected a thermal fingerprint in the habitable zone of Alpha Centauri A. The signal potentially corresponds to a roughly Neptune-size world orbiting between 1 and 2 astronomical units (AU) from the star, study team members said. (One AU, the average Earth-sun distance, is about 93 million miles, or 150 million kilometers.)

"The new capability that we demonstrated with NEAR to directly image nearby habitable-zone planets is inspiring to further developments of exoplanet science and astrobiology," Wagner said in the same statement.

Investors cannot always rely on market valuations increasing. Especially with uncertain market conditions and asset values potentially pulling back in the near-term, it may behoove investors to return to basics, and find other ways to generate alpha.

Clint Edgington, founder of Nest Opportunity Fund, joins the show to discuss how to keep costs low and generate tax alpha with Opportunity Zones, Roth IRA conversions, and other tax-efficient investments.

Astronomers using a new technique may have not only found a super-Earth at a neighbouring star, but they may also have directly imaged it. And it could be nice and cozy in the habitable zone around Alpha Centauri.

So where is the habitable zone around Centauri B? Kasting and team used a model that assumed Earth-mass planets with similar atmospheric composition and found a habitable zone ranging from 0.5 to 0.9 AU, although this 1993 study did not include the perturbing influence of Centauri A. But Forgan notes this with regard to the light reaching Centauri B planets: 2351a5e196
