Welcome to our A220-100 Freeware Project for X-Plane 11 and 12! The A220-100, a narrow-body, twin-engine jet airliner originally designed by Bombardier Aerospace, now part of the Airbus A220 family, formerly known as the Bombardier CSeries, is our focus. With a range of up to 3,200 nautical miles (5,900 km) and a capacity for 135 passengers in a typical two-class configuration, it's an exciting aircraft to explore. Our dedicated team of developers is diligently crafting a detailed and accurate model for X-Plane 11 and 12, utilizing top-notch 3D models and textures for an immersive visual experience inside and out. We're also implementing custom systems and animations to enhance realism while maintaining user-friendly controls. Throughout this project, we'll delve into the design process, covering the aircraft's history, specifications, and our development journey. The A220-100's story dates back to Bombardier's CSeries program in the early 2000s, later acquired by Airbus in 2018, marking a new era for the aircraft as the Airbus A220. Noteworthy for its fuel efficiency, powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1500G geared turbofan engines, the A220-100 offers up to 20% lower fuel consumption, appealing to airlines seeking operational cost savings. Its spacious cabin, wider than competitors like the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 families, prioritizes passenger comfort.
