Birmingham School of Art

This was a group project. For this module we were required to conduct a survey of the Birmingham School of Art in order to create a 3D Revit model.

We noted down dimensions and sketches of elevations to help us create Revit families which ultimately were linked to the overall building model. Realistic renders were created using Enscape.

Reflection Cafe

This project consists of 2 main parts, part one is the design of a Cafe.
Initially I created a very basic concept model for my cafe which focused around the use of mirrors and reflection as the main feature.

We were required to create elevations, site plans, sections and construction details. I used both AutoCAD and Revit for this.

Belmont Building

The second part of this project required the design of an education block which was an extension of an existing locally listed building; Belmont Works.

This module is still in progress and will be the final module I complete. We are required to produce site plans, elevations, sections and construction details to a professional standard.

My design is of steel frame construction with aluminium rainscreen cladding as well as a brick slip cladding system to the first floor level.

Urban Design Practice in Context

This module was report based but we were provided with a site and were required to analyse the surroundings and create a basic outline design idea based on our research.

The site was the former Belmont Works building site located in Birmingham. I visited the site a few times to familiarise myself with it before working on my design.

We had to identify potential uses for the site and how we would incorporate the locally listed existing building on the site with our new design.

Lifts vs Stairs: A Study of Vertical Circulation Within Multi-storey Buildings in Birmingham

As part of my Research in Practice module I was required to conduct a mini research study into a topic of my choice.

I selected the topic of vertical circulation and my aim was to discover more about how designers can implement new strategies to improve the use of stairs in multi-storey buildings.
