HI, I’m Zo! Zoe Anne Stieber, FLHS class of 1971. Daughter of Marlene & Rich, sister of Greg, Ed, Chris & Jack.
And I’m running for Mayor of Fort Lupton, my home town, and I’d appreciate your support and your vote.
I’m about some of the most basic things:
Good community first: To me that means a city in which we can be happy & take pride. Many citizens tell me they’d like to see more retail opportunities, like a clothing or shoe store. To be able to interest those stores, we must grow some more. To grow, we need to be more attractive to home buyers as well as industry.
Good relationships next: Relationships are key to us as citizens. We need to be partners with our own police department, our fire district, and our businesses. These relationships are what keeps our community alive, working, and safe. We’re climbing another energy industry peak that we can harness, and we need to remember the businesses that remained when the last downturns happened too.
Good schools are coming: Our young people are our future, not just as families, but as a community. The city has limited ability to influence school operations, but we can & should work to involve our students in the day to day life of how the city & the community function. I’ve begun a process with the school to establish a youth advisory council which can meet with the mayor monthly, bring suggestions on what kids want as well as problems they can help solve. Another asset is our Boys & Girls Club. They’ll help us lead our city into the future.
I’ve been on Fort Lupton’s Council for 8 years, and City Treasurer for 8 years. Prior to that, I worked with legislators to create the Pioneer License Plate program that had over 20,000 participants state wide. Many of you know me from the local hardware store where I’ve worked for over 11 years. And many citizens know the members of my family that have so often served the community in one respect or another.
My great-great-great uncle, T. C. Winbourn was Fort Lupton’s very first mayor, way back in the 1800’s. His father, W. G. Winbourn had the land surveyed and the streets laid out. What’s all that mean now? It means my family is committed for the long run. Let’s keep after it and move Fort Lupton forward.
