Instances where Mizos took up arms: 1) to fight back British encroachment 2) to protest govt negligence during Mau Tam famine 3) to protect civilians in the recent attack
We mourn for the unnecessary deaths of people who were only doing their duty. Their blood is in the hands of the man who gave the order to shoot.
Interstate boundary disputes should b settled amicably thru peaceful negotiatns, not by sending troops with orders to shoot civilians and police personnel of the neighboring state unless one thinks that the neighboring states are inhabited by enemies.
What the peace-loving people of Mizo could not understnd is that why did the Assam govt send its troops to Mizoram territory while the state CM, 2 days before the aggression, agreed to visit Aizawl soon & hold negotiations with his Mizoram counterpart
Rather than trying to improve the situation at the border and bring back normalcy and peace, Sarma continues his threats of raising Police battalions including commandos and mobilise huge contingents of armed police personnel along the disputed border areas
The truth is that all the pharmaceutical drugs, especially spasmo proxyvon and parvon spas, which had killed 1,161 people in Mizoram since 1984 till June, 2021 were smuggled from Assam
The NE, comprising of diff states and diff cultures used to be strongly united, despite several differences. Now, that may be gone forever - if the big bully in Dispur continues to wreak havoc in this beautiful region by attacking his friends and foes alike.
The face that has emerged from the recent incident is not a young man carrying arms but an old woman with a rolled up cigarette in her mouth, protecting what is hers. Terrorist they call her. A woman/mother/grandmother protecting what's hers is indeed terrifying I suppose.
it was NOT a border dispute or clash, it was an invasion into a constitutionally recognised village of Mizoram by the Assam Police.
What do you expect from one who put his own people's lives by saying I will tell you when to wear a mask in the peak of an infectious pandemic
“Every lie YOU tell incurs a debt to the truth. Sooner or later, that debt is paid.”
The blood of the 6 deceased jawans, is in the same hands of the very man who is constantly tweeting deceptive lies about the situation and difficult relationship between the two neighbouring states of North East India.
Bullets were fired at the civilians, journalists were brutally assaulted, paddy fields that provided the livelihood of people were bulldozed, Mizo forces were told to evict their camps which were seized and destroyed, houses were burnt down not just once, but on several occasions in the recent past
The state police, as also the civilians of Vairengte town had no alternative, but to give befitting reply to the act of aggression and land grabbing by the Assam government headed by its chief minister
After the Assam police opened fire, Mizoram police also had to retaliate to protect the lives of the civilians, resulting in an unfortunate armed encounter
Border imbroglios may not be an easy to be settled amicably as witnessed in interstate boundary rows between Assam and its neighbors please try to find peaceful solution to the disputes through dialogues and negotiations, not by using violent and aggressive methods
Assam CM & other officials have been making false accusations against Mizoram of encroaching on Assam territory in an effort to win propaganda war. Not even once, Mizoram govt officials have entered Assam soil with or without any provocation or giving prior information.
there had never been even a single instance of official encroachments by government employees from Mizoram side into Assam territory till date.
The land grabbing game played by Assam, especially under Himanta Biswa Sarma's rule is eloquent of the fact that Assam has been a big bully for its neighboring states which had been one of the districts of this largest north eastern state.
This is the time for the BJP-led government at the centre to intervene. Otherwise, the irresponsible moves by the leviathan of the north east region can lead to violent confrontations in the region.
The Assam's race for sweepstakes may cause serious and irreparable damages to the unity of the nation and destroy the fabric of the integration of India.
In context to the sudden interest in claiming territory, is it vote bank politics (Barak’s Valley Muslim votes) by which lands could be given to landless Bangladeshi immigrants?
Just a few days after he said he was ready talk about the boundary problem and even come to Aizawl, Biswa Sharma should not have sent anyone into the disputed area. I believe the blame lies squarely on Assam CM
After "they encroached on Assam's territory" to "Mizoram shot first" allegations, which have all been proven wrong, now Himanji has cooked up new conspiracy theories like "drug cartels" "non-state actors" etc etc. National media, don't believe in Himantaji's lies.
No need for 'travel advisory' @himantabiswasarma. We are not against the Assamese people, we are against u and ur land-grabbing crusade for Bangladeshi immigrants. U can come and C for urself that people from Assam are still living peacefully here. Jocker!
Himanta badass sarma has given a bad name to the original peace-loving Assamese in his thirst for land for his vote banks, Bangaldeshi immigrants.
Indigenous people of the NE, let's unite against Himanta, the Robber Baron of the Northeast, who is on a land-grabbing spree.
If u came with fully armed personnel invading others' land way past the border and started opening fires to civilians first, of course the other side also has to retaliate to defend it's citizens
Mizos are a peace-loving people. We don’t attack first unless provoked.
How long will power-hungry politicians play their blame game and their smear campaigns just for a few votes?
200 armed police did not enter Mizoram illegally to “settle matters peacefully.” They harassed civilians, took over the police post and had one goal in mind - to stir up trouble
Mizos mourn the unnecessary lives lost during the recent conflict. The last thing we want is to fight but we had no other choice. We blame the man who put their lives on the line for power
There is no ounce of truth to the ongoing smear campaign against Mizos/Mizoram. Drugs r smuggled from Assam;not the other way round.
It’s painful to see these attempts to defame the Mizos and paint them as savages. We are not the enemy. Peace is all we want.
Assamese in Mizoram have been treated with compassion during the pandemic and even after the conflict. We just want matters to be resolved peacefully and without further violence
We will never celebrate the loss of human lives. Next time, it could be me, us, our loved ones. WE WERE HAPPY THAT THE FIRING HAS ENDED.
It is simply not rational to assume that the Mizoram Police could have fired the first bullet when the Kolasib SP and other officials were negotiating with their Assam counterparts in a location surrounded by the Assam Police.
Assam side has a history of shooting first: starting from the 2018 Zophai incident. The Assam Police is infamous for shooting unarmed Mizo students without hesitation. In the said incident many were injured without loss of lives, fortunately.
What does one gain by disturbing and torturing the people living in their ancestral land? What is their fault? Living on the edge of a border constructed by a colonial State formation process?
We will be neighbors forever; we have come this far as northeasterners, this is not the way to welcome back our two Olympians, Lalremsiami and Lovlina Borgohian. Let’s pray that the rightful solution will be arrived at through what the CM of Mizoram tweets ‘peace and understanding’.
The only boundary accepted by the Mizo is the inner line of 1875 notified under BEFR 1873. If the GoA thinks that they have the right to claim the 1933 inner line, the GoM has every right to claim the 1875 inner line.
The people of Mizo may be warned, threatened, beaten and shot at too, but they will never yield. They have nothing more to lose. The land is the only thing left, and they will protect it with their lives. “This is my land!”
Assam CM must realise he cannot ‘win’ the border issue against us Mizos
Assam Police attacked, Mizoram police PROTECTED
You labeled us as anti-India and portrayed us as Chinese! China is as foreign for us as for you. Why so racist? You called us terrorist just because we protect our land from invaders.
