Hushly ("we", "our", "us") is built and operated by ZmaraiLabs. This policy explains what data the Android application Hushly: White Noise & Sleep (package com.hushly.whitenoise, hereafter "the App") uses, why, and where it goes. It applies only to this specific App, and not to any other product that shares the Hushly name.

What the App is for
Hushly plays white noise, nature sounds, animal sounds and lullabies to help you or your family sleep. It offers sound mixing, a sleep timer with fade-out, favourites, an offline library and a paid Premium tier with parent-focused tools.
What the App does with the microphone
Microphone access is used only for the optional Cry Detection auto-resume feature in Hushly Premium.
The feature is off by default. You turn it on manually in Settings, and Android asks you separately for microphone permission before it can start.
When enabled and while a sound mix is paused, the App measures the ambient sound level on the device to detect sustained loud sound (typically a crying baby) and then resumes the mix you selected.
Because Android requires it for background audio work, the App uses a foreground service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MICROPHONE) while cry detection is active. Android shows a persistent notification labelled "Cry detection active" the entire time the microphone is being used, including when the screen is off.
The microphone audio is processed only on your device. Nothing is recorded to a file, stored on your device, uploaded, sent to us, sent to any third party, or shared in any way. Only a numeric ambient loudness reading is used, and that reading is discarded as soon as the check is done.

Parent voice loop
Hushly Premium lets you record a short spoken loop (for example: "shhh, sleep now") to include in your mix. The recording is stored only on your device, in the App's private storage. It is never uploaded, shared, or included in backups the App controls. You can delete it from the App at any time; uninstalling the App removes it.
Media playback in the background
To keep a sound mix playing while you switch apps, dim the screen or lock the phone, the App uses the FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK foreground service. This is started only after you tap a sound. Android shows an ongoing media notification with pause and stop controls at all times while sound is playing.
Advertising (free version only)
The free version of the App shows advertising served by Google AdMob (part of Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC). We use Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to present the required GDPR/consent choice on first launch and to record your preference (personalised vs. non-personalised ads). When you choose personalised ads, AdMob may collect the Android Advertising ID, coarse device information and interaction with ads for ad delivery, frequency capping, ad measurement and fraud prevention.
Google's role and controls are described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and support.google.com/admob/answer/6128543. You can reset or delete your Advertising ID in Android, Settings, Privacy, Ads.
Hushly Premium disables advertisements.
Purchases
Premium is a one-time in-app purchase (EUR 2.99) processed by Google Play Billing. We do not receive your card number. Google Play tells us whether the purchase is entitled to your account so we can unlock Premium features. Refunds and taxes are handled by Google Play.
Local settings and content
The App stores your language choice, theme, favourites, timer preferences, last-played mix and Cry Detection toggle on your device, in the App's private storage. This data is not sent to us. Restore-of-purchase relies on your Google account (Play Billing), not on data we hold.
Crash and technical diagnostics
The App does not include a third-party crash-reporting SDK. Google Play automatically records crash rates and anonymous device diagnostics as part of the Android platform (Android Vitals). These reports go to Google, not to us as raw personal data.
Data we do not collect
We do not collect: your name, your email address (except when you contact support yourself), your contacts, your photos, your location, your voice, your recordings, your health data, your calendars, or files outside our own private App storage.
Children
The App is intended for adults, typically parents. It is not marketed to children, does not target the "Designed for Families" programme, and does not contain child-directed advertising SKUs. If you are under the digital consent age in your country you should use the App only with parental supervision, and adults are responsible for any Premium purchase.
Retention and deletion
Local settings, favourites and the parent voice loop are kept on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App.
Microphone samples are not retained; they exist for the moment of the ambient-level measurement only.
AdMob retains data according to Google's own retention rules (see section 6).
You can request account or content deletion for anything we hold about you by emailing zmarailabs@gmail.com. Because we do not hold user accounts of our own, in practice this involves confirming that no server-side data exists and pointing you to the Google-side controls above.
Data transfers
We do not operate our own servers that receive personal data. Advertising and billing data flow directly to Google and are governed by Google's international transfer safeguards.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (EEA, UK, California, etc.) you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of personal data, and to lodge a complaint with your data-protection authority. Email us at zmarailabs@gmail.com and we will help you exercise those rights against the small footprint we control, and point you to the Google-side controls for the rest.
Changes
If we change this policy we update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, prompt you in the App on next launch.
