INTRODUCTION
This Privacy Policy describes how Smart Printer App & Scanner (the App, we, us, or our) handles information when you use our macOS application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.
INFORMATION WE DO NOT COLLECT
Smart Printer App & Scanner is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal information or usage data. Specifically, we do not collect:
• Your name, email address, or contact information
• Your location or device identifiers
• The contents of documents you print or scan
• The files you import into the app
• Your printer names, network information, or print history
• Any analytics or telemetry data
• Crash reports or diagnostic information
HOW THE APP WORKS
All processing happens locally on your Mac:
• Printer discovery uses your local network (Bonjour/mDNS) to find printers. This information never leaves your device.
• Print jobs are sent directly from your Mac to your printer using system APIs. We do not see or store the content being printed.
• Scanned documents are processed entirely on your device. Images are enhanced using on-device Core Image filters.
• Generated files (PDFs, QR codes, barcodes, templates) are created locally and saved only to locations you choose.
• Settings and preferences are stored locally using Apple UserDefaults and never synced to any server.
PERMISSIONS
The App requests the following macOS permissions, used only for the stated purpose:
Printer Access — To send print jobs to your selected printer
Local Network — To discover Wi-Fi and network printers via Bonjour
File Access — To open files you select and save generated documents
Camera (optional) — Only if you explicitly use camera-based scanning
You can revoke any permission at any time via macOS System Settings → Privacy & Security.
THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The App does not integrate with, communicate with, or send data to any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or cloud services.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The App does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
DATA SECURITY
Because we do not collect any data, there is no personal information that could be compromised through our systems. Your documents and files remain on your device under your control.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
YOUR RIGHTS
Since we do not collect personal data, there is no personal information for us to access, modify, or delete on your behalf. All data you create while using the App remains on your device and can be managed by you directly through the Finder.
