Zan Maley (he/him) is a queer and trans writer. His writing takes on many forms including academic discourse and poetry. In his academic research, Zan focuses on gender identity and performance across the early modern stage. He believes that historical understandings of sexuality and gender are crucial to contextualizing modern identities and preventing the erasure of trans bodies. This belief carries over to his poetry, where Zan explores the intersections of queer/trans identity, religion, and memory. Currently, he is an MA/PhD Literature candidate and writing instructor at UMass Amherst. In his spare time, he enjoys warm cups of tea and weird movies.
