Hello, and welcome to my website! I’m Ziyue Tan, a passionate music educator and scholar originally from China. In the summer of 2024, I completed my Master’s degree at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. Shortly afterward, I embarked on an exciting new chapter, moving to Minnesota to pursue a Ph.D. in Music Education at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
Music has always been an integral part of my life, and my interests span various fields. I am an accomplished pianist and a skilled performer on the Hulusi (葫芦丝), a traditional Chinese bamboo flute known for its soulful and serene tones. Additionally, I am deeply involved in vocal music, with extensive experience in choir singing and choral conducting.
As a dedicated music educator, I have had the privilege of teaching music in K-12 educational settings in China. Over the years, I’ve developed a strong commitment to nurturing creativity, musicality, and cultural appreciation among my students. Whether directing a school choir, guiding young learners in their first piano lessons, or introducing them to the unique sounds of the Hulusi, I strive to make music education an inspiring and transformative journey for every learner.
