Through my work I often take critical views on social, political, cultural and human rights issues. I believe in creating works that communicate emotion and speak to society with reference to my home country, Zimbabwe, which has grown through a series of political and, social and economic upheavals but yet the people maintain hope. It is this sense of hope that carries into the context of my work, reflecting optimism across borders.
In most of my works, I use acrylics on canvas and I also experiment with any other media like sculpture, but my main focus is on human rights and environment and the methodology remains consistent. My influences are basically everything I see, feel, hear, read and my personal experiences. However, in recent times, I have developed keen interest in performance art. This development was influenced by my collaboration with Jelili Atiku whom I have had an opportunity to work with once in 2011 in Harare, Zimbabwe. I intend to direct my performance as a tool to challenge and advocate for human rights and environmental issues.
