"Professor Liu is a top tier professor. He goes out of his way to make extra time to help his students understand difficult topics. His classroom environment allows for an enriching experience because he is very interactive."
"The Professor was always responsive to meet after class hours to further explain concepts. He was very helpful and one of the best professors I have had at Rice!"
" Your support throughout this course has meant more than you know. I remember you mentioning your teaching experience in Germany and other countries, which I thought was very unique. Not only did you make the material distinct and clear, but your approach to specific topics was genuinely different from any accounting course I’ve taken at UH. Your teaching style and encouragement helped me return to the material even when I felt off balance. During a season when a lot feels uncertain, this course helped keep me grounded. I felt intellectually challenged, and I value that you care more about what's behind the grade than the grade itself. I especially wanted to thank you for pulling me aside earlier this summer. It was so significant to me because it was one of the few times I felt like someone noticed what I was navigating. Things aren’t clear at home, and it took me by surprise further when the kind of presence and insight, respectfully, came from an accounting professor. Though it was brief, it had a much larger impact on me than you might have expected. That kind of acknowledgment reminded me I should finish the course with intention. Naturally, I want things to feel earned rather than unearned. I saw it as an opportunity to push through, even with knowing you said you would help. The interaction shifted my perspective drastically. Though I didn’t perform as well as I hoped on Exam II, I thought I guess it’s still progress and to keep trying. Your teaching style challenged me to think more logically, to have trust in myself again, and approach problems differently, both in accounting and in life. Maybe your global teaching experience played a role in that. And although you joked about not wanting to come back, I really do think UH could benefit from more professors like you. As I mentioned briefly, I’ve been trying to figure out what’s next for me and where I truly want to pivot. You’ve granted me the time and space to learn more about that as well. This class turned out to be more than just a graduation requirement for me. Thank you again for your time, guidance, and patience this summer. I hope you have a great time on your vacation and a smooth semester ahead. Thank you."
"I'm glad that I could finish it the one of the hard class successfully and always feel grateful about your great teaching and knowledge professor."
"I wanted to thank you for my last semester at UH. On one hand, I wish I had gotten to take your class under different circumstances of life before I had a child, on the other hand, I am also so glad that I will get to remember my last semester at UH with the best accounting professor I had. I never had a more interesting class at UH that encouraged understanding of the topic. You encouraged us to ask questions beyond the scope of PowerPoint slides and always explained to us the big picture of why things are the way they are. I was apprehensive about whether it would be beneficial for me to attend every class since I have an infant to look after, but because of your way of teaching and care for students, I haven't missed a single class. I also never saw a professor showing us problem-solving solutions in multiple formats to show us that there could be more efficient ways of getting some of the answers. I thought accounting was a dry and memorization-heavy class, but this class was the complete opposite of that. Thank you for the work that you put into all of your students. Wish you good luck in your new beginnings."
"You have been very helpful and understanding towards every single one of your students the entire semester, we really appreciate you, and we are pleased to have had you this semester! I hope everything goes well for you at your new job."
" I want to thank you for this semester, I really learned so much and enjoyed your classes."
"Your course sparked my interest in the real-world applications of accounting, and your lectures played a significant role in my decision to explore accounting beyond the undergraduate level."
"I would like to thank you, as I truly appreciate it. I'm grateful to have a professor who cares. Regardless of my job and vacationing this summer, I will do my best to make a good score on this final."
"I really appreciate the effort you are putting in the class and I look forward to our talk tomorrow. Thank you for hearing me out, it means a lot to me."
"Thank you so much for your help and understanding. Perhaps for many students, the dedication of Chinese professors can create some pressure. But honestly, you are the most responsible professor I have met so far at UH, and I feel very fortunate as a student who truly wants to learn. Thank you for your dedication that has really motivated me."
"I wanted to say I have really enjoyed your class and teaching style thus far and look forward to the rest of the summer!"
"I learned a lot and I will retain this information to apply later in life."
"Anyways, regarding the class and random thoughts I had, I just wanted to say I really enjoyed your class a lot. The last time I actually had to use my brain was all the way back in my Accounting Principles class like 3 years ago. Although my grades were not the best, I enjoyed coming to class and having to critically think and learn how to do things the right way instead of doing them mechanically. I'm also glad you left UH to be honest. In my opinion as a student, the school you go to doesn't matter too much and what matters is what you do for yourself. But ever since you started teaching, I've come to realize that other schools might have better things to offer, and you were the big reason why I started considering applying for Master's program in the first place. Some UH professors aren't exactly the best either and that's why I wasn't going to do a Masters in the first place and just tried to get a job after graduating. One thing that I really appreciate was how you brought in the printed practice problems that you went over in class with us. For me, the best way to learn is by doing, so by doing those practice problems with us in class, I learned how to solve those problems mechanically and the reason behind them as well. No other professor has done this for me, and I thank you so much for doing so because it is very useful. I hope that you continue to do so for your future students as well."
"Very helpful. Passionate."
