Privacy Policy for Zien
Last updated: August 9, 2026
Zien ("the extension") is a Chrome extension that helps you track job applications. This policy explains what data the extension accesses and how it is used.
Data Collection
Zien does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. Zien does not use analytics, tracking, or advertising services.
Data Storage
All information you enter into Zien — job links, company names, job titles, application status, dates, and notes — is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage.local API. This data never leaves your browser, is never sent to any server (Zien has no backend), and is not synced to any account.
Permissions Used
activeTab — Used only when you click the Zien icon, to read the URL and title of the currently open tab so the popup can pre-fill the job link and title fields.
scripting — Used only when you click the Zien icon, to read publicly visible content on the currently open job posting page (such as structured job data or the company name shown on the page) so the popup can pre-fill the company and job title fields. This runs solely in your browser and does not transmit any page content elsewhere.
storage — Used to save the job applications you add, locally on your device, so they persist between sessions and can be viewed on the dashboard.
Data Sharing
Zien does not share any data with third parties, because it does not transmit data anywhere in the first place.
Data Deletion
You can delete individual job entries at any time from the dashboard. Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data.
Changes to This Policy
