Established in 2018, Zhitsho Café is a non-profit, student-run café at the Ngagyur Nyingma Institute (NNI), Namdrolling Monastery. Founded with a simple purpose—to serve and support our Sangha community—the café has grown into a welcoming space for connection, conversation, and care.
Managed by student volunteers from NNI, Zhitsho Café provides a cozy gathering place where scholars, monks, students, and visitors can pause, refresh themselves, and enjoy freshly prepared drinks and food.
During the challenging months of the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, Zhitsho Café played an important role in supporting the monastic community by helping ensure continued access to essential food and refreshments when normal services were disrupted.
Today, the café continues that same spirit of selfless service and community support. Every cup we pour and every plate we serve contributes to the well-being of our community, with all proceeds supporting student welfare initiatives and campus programmes.
Student-run. Community-minded. Serving with care. 🤎
While you're here, we warmly encourage you to explore the other wonderful cafés run by monks and nuns in our monastic community. Each café has its own atmosphere, offerings, and character, while sharing the same spirit of service and community.
