Hi, I'm Zhengxi (Woody) Jin. From Jan 2026, I'll be a postdoctoral researcher at Collège de France, joining the ERC Mental Files project. I did my PhD at King's College London. My supervisors are Prof. David Papineau and Dr James Stazicker. I hold a BA in Philosophy from Lingnan University in Hong Kong. You can find my CV here.
I'm interested in how (different types of) minds make sense of the world—how they learn from experience and form concepts to represent surrounding things. My research brings together philosophy of mind and language, and cognitive science, to better understand these questions. Lately, I’ve been thinking about how bounded, practical minds can come to represent the world "objectively", and how attention and learning interact in shaping such objective representations. I'm also interested in understanding mental disorders as the breakdowns of otherwise good cognitive designs.
