About Me

Hello! My name is Zachary or as most people refer to me, Zach. I am passionate about educational advocacy and I am a finance nerd at heart. When I'm not at school I can be found skiing, backpacking, and reading the news (my favorite topics are Business and Technology.) I am currently a Freshman at the Micheal G. Foster School of Business at the University of Washington. I am pursuing a degree in Finance and Information Systems. Whether it be testifying in the Washington Senate and House Education Committees or helping the University of Washington Housing and Food Service Department with developing their budget, I have a proven track record of stakeholder engagement, strengthening systems, and bringing people and teams together.

OSPI Press Confrence

I was honored to be asked by Chris Reykdal to join him in presenting legislation that would create universal free school meals for every public school student in Washinton. This would be the biggest step yet towards fighting childhood hunger in Washington and expanding on my advocacy for universal free school meals.

Washington State School Board Directors' Association Strategic Advocacy Internship -

During the summer of 2022 before heading off to college at the University of Washington I served as Strategic Advocacy Intern. I got to continue the hard work I was doing on the Kennewick School Board and this time I was building the framework that would be used across the state to more inclusively and authentically engage student voices in our school Boards.

As one of only two interns selected in the state my co-intern, now turned close friend, Brooklyn and I had a lot of work set out for us. In collaboration with WSSDA's leadership, we identified three major objectives to do the most good with the little time we had together

  1. Collect best practices from across the state. That meant that Brooklyn and I personally called every school board in the state.

  2. Analyze this data to understand what is working and what is not.

  3. Format our findings in an accessible, engaging, and resourceful manner that School Board Director's can use
