Q: How do I pay?

A: It is free in 2023 and 2024. Thirty low-income trainees will receive a stipend of $2219 each (15 trainees each year). This stipend will be disbursed after the successful completion of the program at the end of each semester).

Q: When is the deadline for the stipend application?

A:  Stipend for Cohort #3 (Application Form, Deadline: 2/9/2024). Application form is located to the right. Make sure to send application to CSULB-ZEV@csulb.edu.

Q: What is the Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Program?

The ZEV Program provides the market in California with highly qualified engineers and technicians for ZEV with the aim of decreasing the unemployment and poverty levels in the state. Certifications will be presented after the completion of the program.

Q: What is the pass/fail criteria of the program?

The course is successfully completed if the trainee attends at least 80% of the course hours.

Q: Is there an exam for a grade?

No exams, quizzes, lab reports, or homework assignments are required to complete the training course. Letter grades will not be given.

Q: What will be provided in the Certificate/Digital Badge?

The certificate will state the following: "The trainee John Smith has successfully completed 120 training hours in ZEV Training Program."

Q: How can I verify that I am enrolled?

You should do registration through CPACE Professional Programs, which can be found under the Registration page.

Q: How long are certifications valid?

A: Certifications last indefinitely.

Q: What types of materials should we bring?

A: A pen, notepad, calculator, and laptop.

Q: What is proper dress attire?

A:  The typical dress code for lab is required. Closed toe shoes, long sleeves (if no lab coat), no shorts or flipflops, etc.

Q: Can I drop from a class?

A:  Class can be dropped prior to the start date. To drop from a course, email: cpace-info@csulb.edu with your full name, ID number (if applicable), and course title. All 4-courses are required to receive a certificate.

Q: Do I need to have any previous experience or background knowledge?

A: No prior knowledge is necessary; however, it is encouraged you have a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematical) background, but all are welcome to join.

Q: How can I join?

A: Complete registration at CPACE Professional Programs.

Q: When will the next cohort be?

A: New cohorts start at the beginning of each academic semester. Each cohort will take 2 courses (CPIE212, CPIE213) during weeks 1-8 and 2 courses (CPIE214, CPIE215) during weeks 9-15. After completing all 4 courses, participants will receive their certification.

Q: How will course materials be delivered?

A: Those who are enrolled in the program can access their respective course materials through BeachBoard/Canvas.

Q: How can I access my account?

A: An email will be sent from the university with your username and password.
