Zero Waste Yashwin

How Much Waste is Yashwin Hinjewadi generating daily at present?

Total Waste 200+ kg daily
100+ kg wet waste | 25+ kg dry recyclable waste | 75+ kg rejects

We still need to bring down HAZARDOUS WASTE

Target is to get it down to 30 kg daily!

Check if what you are putting in this bin is really hazardous

Or can it be Composted (Green Bin) or Recycled (Blue Bag)!

Here is the daily data & analysis of waste

Please check here to see how you have been segregating!

"Green" Great you've got it right!

"Orange" You're ok, but you need to improve and make it a permanent habit

"Red" You haven't got it right more than 60% of the time we checked. You have to change! It's high time!

Why all this fuss over garbage?

...because it is hurting us!

  • Illegal dumping and burning of garbage in Hinjewadi & Mann is causing health issues for many residents. Read More

  • Hinjewadi and Mann Gram Panchayats do not presently have facilities to tackle the magnitude of the problem

  • Regulations demand that all waste generators segregate their waste and bulk generators also treat wet waste in-house

  • It's great for the environment and eventually resources can be recovered from waste

The Housekeeping Team Sorts Too!

The housekeeping team has also been provided separate bins to make sure that your segregation efforts are not going to waste. The green bin is for kitchen waste, the red for hazardous waste and the boris have been provided for dry recyclables.

Consider your job done right, if housekeeping doesn't need to put their hands into your bins. They should just be emptying your bins into their's!

Housekeeping is Trained!

Your housekeeping team is also being trained regularly to upgrade their skills and understanding of segregated collection.

Their issues are also being addressed!

Beware, they are keeping a watch on YOU!

what happens to the sorted waste?

What Happens to Bio-degradable Kitchen Waste?

Wet waste goes through final sorting.

This is why we don't like wet waste in plastic bags

It is shredded and mixed with composting accelerating materials and churned regularly in a composting machine

After 20-30 days we get fresh compost which can be used in the garden

What Happens to Dry Recyclable Waste?

Dry recyclables are sorted into many more categories, sometime up to 14 types

Stored in various bags, containers or spaces in the basement of each building in the garbage room

This is why dry recyclables need to be clean and dry

When enough quantity has accumulated, it is weighed and transported to recyclers to create a resource

What Happens to the Plastic from the Cotton UPCYCLE Bag?

It is converted in exciting fashion accessories and bags.

Give us more to UPCYCLE!

What Happens to Mixed Waste / Rejects / Hazardous Waste?

Soiled materials, hazardous waste, sanitary waste and mixed waste is not handled. It is set aside for disposal to a dump site

It is loaded on a tractor and disposed outside.

Mixed Waste is a Wasted Cost to the Society and should be avoided. This waste can be minimised only when all segregate correctly
