Zenox - Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 30, 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Zenox ("the App", "we", "us") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the App. By downloading, installing, or using Zenox, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Who This App Is For
Zenox is a multi-purpose productivity and parental-control application. It can be used by:
- Anyone, at any age, managing their own screen time, focus, or habits — for example, a child, teenager, or adult who wants to restrict their own access to distracting apps or unwanted content for self-improvement purposes.
- A parent or legal guardian supervising a minor child's device.
- An adult who has obtained the explicit, informed consent of another adult to help restrict or manage that person's device usage (e.g., a shared device managed by agreement).
Zenox is a restriction and management tool, not a covert tracking tool: it works by blocking, timing, and limiting access on the device it is installed on, and it does not give one person hidden access to another person's private messages, calls, location, or files. Section 6 of the Terms of Use explains the responsible-use rules that apply when Zenox is used to restrict someone else's device.
3. Age & Children's Privacy
- There is no minimum age to use Zenox's self-restriction features. A child or teenager can use Zenox on their own device to manage their own screen time or block content, the same way they would use any productivity/blocking app.
- To act as a "supervisor" account — i.e., to set up and manage restrictions on a device used by someone else (such as a minor child) — the person creating that supervisor account must be at least 18 years old (or the age of legal majority in their country), since only an adult can take legal responsibility for that decision.
- We do not knowingly collect personal data (such as name, email, or phone number) directly from children under 13 through an independently created account. Where a minor under 13 uses a self-restriction profile, we recommend this be set up or supervised by a parent/guardian. If we become aware that we have unknowingly collected personal data from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will delete it from our servers.
- If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at zenox.app.team@gmail.com so we can take the necessary action.
4. Information We Collect
a) Account Data (stored on our backend infrastructure, currently via Supabase):
- When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, profile picture and Google account identifier. We never receive or store your Google password.
- An internal account ID that we create to identify your Zenox account.
b) Device Data:
- To apply your plan's device limit, we store an identifier that Android generates for the App on your device (Android ID), your device's manufacturer and model name, and when the device was first and last used with your account. This record is removed when you sign out on that device.
c) Subscription & Purchase Data:
- If you subscribe through Google Play, we receive from Google and store: the subscription product and plan, the purchase token and order ID, the subscription status (for example active, canceled, on hold, expired, refunded or revoked), the renewal or expiry date, and whether the purchase has been confirmed.
- At checkout, the App gives Google Play an identifier of your Zenox account so the purchase can be linked to it.
- All payments are processed by Google Play. We never receive or store your card number or other payment details.
- If you redeem an activation code, we record the code, its duration and when it was redeemed. If remaining activation-code time is moved to your Google Play subscription (see Section 13 of our Terms of Use), we keep a record of the time moved and the renewal dates before and after.
- Whether and when you started the free trial.
d) Accountability Partner Email (only if you choose the email unlock method):
- If you choose to have unlock codes sent to a trusted person, the App sends that person's email address, the name you entered, a short description of the requested action, and a one-time code to our backend, which sends the email through an email delivery provider. This information is used only to send that email. Please enter only the email address of someone who has agreed to receive these emails.
e) On-Device Usage Data (stored locally on the device):
- App usage information needed to enforce restrictions/limits (e.g., which apps are open, screen time, restricted categories).
- Settings and rules configured within the App (schedules, restricted apps/websites, focus modes).
- As of the current version, this category of data does not leave the device and is not uploaded to our servers.
f) Future Cloud Sync (Reserved Right):
We may, in future versions, offer an optional feature to sync some on-device supervision data (e.g., a parent viewing a linked child profile's activity remotely) to our servers. If/when this feature is introduced, we will update this Policy in advance and clearly notify users before it is enabled.
g) Log Data:
Whenever you use the App, in case of an error we may automatically collect data such as your device's IP address, device name, operating system version, app configuration, the date and time of use, and other diagnostic statistics. This helps us detect and fix bugs.
5. Permissions We Request And Why
Zenox needs certain sensitive Android permissions to work as a restriction/management tool. We use them only for the purposes below — never to read private content unrelated to the App's function:
- Display over other apps (Overlay): To show a restriction screen, timer, or notice on top of a restricted app/website once a limit is reached.
- Battery optimization exemption: So the App is not killed by the system in the background, which would stop restrictions from working.
- Background execution / Foreground service: To keep enforcing app restrictions, time limits, and content filters even when Zenox is not open on-screen.
- Device Administrator: To prevent the restricted profile from easily uninstalling or disabling the App (e.g., requiring a PIN to remove it).
- Accessibility Service (where used): To detect which app/website is currently active on screen, so restriction rules can be applied in real time.
We do not use these permissions to read private messages, harvest contacts, record calls, capture unrelated screenshots, or sell personal data to third parties for advertising.
6. Third-Party Services
The App currently relies on the following third-party service providers, which process data under their own privacy policies:
- Google: Sign in with Google (sign-in), and Google Play and Google Cloud (app distribution, subscription payments, purchase verification and subscription status updates). Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Supabase: backend infrastructure (authentication, database and server functions). Supabase Privacy Policy: https://supabase.com/privacy
- An email delivery provider: used only to send unlock codes to an accountability partner, if you use that feature.
We may add or change third-party service providers in the future (for example, analytics, crash-reporting, or push-notification services) as the App develops. Where a new third-party service could materially change how your data is processed, we will update this Policy and, where required, notify you before the change takes effect.
7. Cookies
This Service does not directly use cookies. However, the App may rely on third-party code or libraries (see Section 6) that use cookies or similar technologies to operate or improve their services. If we introduce components that use cookies more broadly, this Policy will be updated accordingly.
8. How We Use the Information
- To operate core App features (restrictions, scheduling, limits).
- To manage your account, subscription, and billing.
- To verify your purchases with Google Play and keep your subscription status up to date, including renewals, cancellations and refunds.
- To apply your subscription's device limit.
- To send unlock codes to your accountability partner, if you choose that method.
- To provide customer support.
- To maintain security and prevent abuse or fraud.
- To comply with legal obligations.
- To improve and develop the App (using aggregated/anonymized data only, where applicable).
9. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data or on-device usage data to third parties. We may share limited data only with:
- The third-party service providers listed in Section 6, strictly to operate the App.
- Google Play, to verify and manage your subscription purchases.
- The accountability partner you choose, who receives the unlock-code emails you request.
- Law enforcement or regulators, only if legally required (court order, valid legal request).
- A successor entity, in case of a merger, acquisition, or sale of the business (users will be notified).
10. Links to Other Sites
The App or its content may contain links to other websites. If you click a third-party link, you will be directed to that site, which we do not operate or control. We are not responsible for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites, and we recommend reviewing their policies separately.
11. Data Security
We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures (encryption in transit, access controls, secure storage) to protect data. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Data Retention, Account Deletion & Your Rights
How long we keep data:
- Account, device and subscription data are kept while your account exists.
- On-device data stays on your device until you delete it.
Deleting your account:
- To delete your account, email zenox.app.team@gmail.com from the email address linked to your Zenox account, with the subject "Delete my account". We will delete your account and the data linked to it from our servers within 30 days and confirm by email.
- We may keep limited information where required for legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention or security reasons, only for as long as necessary. Google Play keeps its own records of your purchases under Google's Privacy Policy.
- Important: deleting your account or uninstalling the App does not cancel a Google Play subscription. Please cancel it first in the Google Play Store app: Profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
- Any remaining subscription, activation-code or trial time is lost when your account is deleted.
Your rights:
You may request to access the personal data we hold about your account, correct inaccurate data, delete your account and associated server-stored data, or export your data where technically feasible. Send requests to zenox.app.team@gmail.com. On-device data can be deleted at any time by uninstalling the App or clearing its data from device settings.
13. International Users
Zenox currently targets users in Egypt and the wider Arab region. If the App becomes available internationally (including the EU, UK, or US) in the future, this Policy will be updated to reflect additional rights that may apply to you (such as GDPR or CCPA rights), and users will be notified of such updates.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, at our sole discretion, to reflect changes in the App, third-party services (Section 6), legal requirements, or our practices. We will notify users of material changes via the App or the contact email on file, and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
