Phase II: Empower a Girl with $5 - Establishing an Empower Hub for Sustainable Reusable Sanitary Pad Production

In many parts of Ethiopia, thousands of girls miss up to a week of school every month because they cannot afford basic menstrual hygiene products. Through the generosity of donors, Kindova Humanitarian Organization, in partnership with Noble Humanitarian Mission, successfully completed Phase I of the Empower a Girl with $5 campaign, providing reusable menstrual hygiene kits and menstrual health education to 1,015 girls in eight schools across Ethiopia. These reusable pads help girls stay in school, protect their health, and restore their dignity. Building on this success, Kindova Humanitarian Organization, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Rockville, the Rotary Club of Gaithersburg, the Rotary Club of Metro Bethesda, and Rotary District 7620, will distribute an additional 1,800 reusable menstrual hygiene kits to schoolgirls in Ethiopia this year.

Zema 4 Hope is a youth-led group of high school girls who are inspired and motivated to support young girls in Ethiopia by helping them overcome challenges that prevent them from staying in school. Through their commitment to service, these young leaders are working to promote education, dignity, and opportunity for girls.

Now, Zema 4 Hope is proud to collaborate with Kindova Humanitarian Organization to launch Phase II: Empower a Girl with $5 – Establishing an Empower Hub for Sustainable Reusable Sanitary Pad Production. The hub will train local women to manufacture high-quality reusable sanitary pads, creating sustainable livelihoods while ensuring that thousands more girls have reliable access to affordable menstrual products.
