Anticipated Funds Needed for Medical Clinic in Haiti
Get your bike and let's go! :)
No, we're not asking you to ride along with us -- unless you really want to. :) We won't turn down company!
Ultimately, we ask if you would consider being part of something much more significant than our pedaling down the beautiful western coastline.
It is our desire to use this opportunity to bless those who are in need.
We would love to have each and every mile that we pedal accumulate funds for the construction of a much needed medical clinic in Charrier, Haiti.
This project has become of specific interest to us as we both have a heart for providing others the opportunity to have basic healthcare accessible to them. In 2013, Dwayne visited Haiti and saw the work that New Life Mission -- Haiti, Inc. has done in the Charrier community. He also witnessed the relationships that the workers and volunteers have built with their fellow community members.
Would you consider pledging funds to New Life Mission -- Haiti, Inc. and their effort to build a medical clinic?
Every penny counts! Really! No gift is too small.
We anticipate biking about 1,600 miles total along the west coast.
So, a pledge of $0.01/mile would equal an approximate donation of $16.
A pledge of $0.10/mile would roughly equal a donation of $160.
Of course, if you would rather, you may give a flat donation instead, but we are excited about seeing the donation amount literally grow by the mile (each mile that we pedal) through the "mile pledges."
If you are interested in partnering with us by making a pledge, please contact us by email at zeisetadventures@gmail.com to let us know your amount. For all flat donations, you can contribute directly to New Life Mission -- Haiti, Inc. by check or on their website and specify "Zeiset West Coast Bike Trip 2018" in the donation "designation" options.
For all "mile pledges," we will keep a running total of our miles for you so at the end of the trip, you'll also be able to contribute online or by check.
In the words of Cindy Zimmerman, LPN, U.S. Director of New Life Mission -- Haiti, Inc.
"For me, it is hard to witness cases where small issues turn into crisis situations because of the lack of medical care or the lack of money. For example, last time I was in Haiti, a woman needed to be taken to the hospital in the middle of the night because her blood sugar was out of control. We, at the mission had no means to check her sugar to offer advice. So off to the hospital we went. This trip, I was approached by a young boy with a severe knee laceration which was obviously infected. Simple monitoring and simple first aid would alleviate these problems."
In response to these situations, Cindy participated in a collaborative discussion with the Hatian director of New Life Mission, the local community health officer, and a Hatian doctor from a neighboring village where they focused on the needs of the Charrier community. They also recognized the need for education in areas such as personal hygiene, the importance of purified water, prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, AIDS awareness, and prenatal/postnatal care. It became clear to them that a medical clinic was needed.
"Currently, the Children’s Home [part of New Life Mission -- Haiti, Inc.] owns a piece of land on which we would be permitted to construct this facility. This would consist of a small, three-room building, a room for intake, an exam room, and a pharmacy. We would also like a small rest room." -- Cindy Zimmerman
The anticipated need for this project is $30,000-40,000. Currently, New Life Mission – Haiti, Inc. has raised close to $10,000. Together, let’s push them closer to their goal!

"Many of you who have traveled with me to do medical clinics realize that, for many people in the community, our clinics are the only medical care that is affordable. Many of these folks live off the land and are very poor. This would be a huge blessing to the community. Through this avenue of medical care, we would be showing the love of Christ to the lost. Many times, as I treat patients, I am able to share the gospel and pray for them, plant seeds. It is a great opportunity to share God’s love as well as the gospel." -- Cindy Zimmerman
