A name befitting a mer who was outcast the day he was born, only to be reunited to uncertain honor through the dogged personal perseverance expected of his people. Zedvius would grow to learn survival in its most wretched forms from that very first breath of sulfuric air and ash of his home at birth, through to adulthood as he grew on the volcanic island he called home. Here, every day of fighting just to live in its harsh climate would temper and harden him. Such extremes can carve out quite exceptional people. Or they can unleash only villainous pariahs. Upon this precipice begins this mer's tale, where the life that he has bought for himself will prove once and for all his worth among his people, or the world, whichever will claim him
