Name: Zedvius
AKA: 'The Jewel of the Mists' due to his shimmering skin (This in particular would have no connection to his real name as he was known to wear a mask for his eyes and scarf that covered his hair), The ‘Prince’ of Pearl Pyre (derogatory as well as a source of personal pride)
Nickname: Zed
Titles/Ranks/Occupation: As a pirate, he is not widely known as the maormer 'Zedvius,' but rather by his moniker, 'Jewel of the Mists,' an infamous pirate notable most for targeting war ships and claiming them as his own for his growing fleet. Upon Pyandonea the mer 'Zedvius' has earned the rare title 'Exalted Exile' for his dauntless efforts to reestablish his family name back into honored society after generations of exile.
Patronage: Orgnum/Satakal, Mother Sea, the Tide-King
Gender: Male
Race: Maormer
Birthdate: 2E 519, the 30th of Frostfall (Emperor's Day)
Birthsign: The Tower
Build: Tall and stocky at around 6'3"
Hair: A pale red the color of a warm sunrise
Skin: His skin is of a darker hue of gray-blue with unusual chameleon-like qualities lending it to appear as though colorful scales or dapples of shimmering sunlight sparkle on his skin. His complexion can change appearance depending on his environment
Distinguishing marks: Golden tattoos of ocean hieroglyphs and runes and other sea inspired patterns. Most of his scars are worked into his tattoos, other than those from fighting where his knuckles have split, etc.
Eyes: Silvery white
Clothing: Can be seen in typical seafaring garb of both serviceable and formal styles in colors of blues and greens, to oranges and browns, and blacks.
Gear: Carries a staff made of a strange, bronze colored coral that flows with bright rivulets of orange and cyan indicative of some latent power buried within. He owns a carved pipe and an amulet of a serpent ouroboros eating its own tail made of the same rare material
Ships: They are known to share names that reflect the colors of rich spices and gemstones, and thereby hearken back to the Jewel moniker he wears
Temperament: Determined, disciplined, unwavering, ambitious, equally ruthless as he is merciful, secretive, stubborn, aloof, chameleon, confident, strategist, occasionally allows his sense of humor and a splinter of his hidden kindness be seen.
Moral/ethical beliefs: On the surface it might appear he has absolutely none, weighing his needs and goals, as well as those of his crew, against all obstacles. For example, he is quick to dispel the rumor of mutiny with swift and merciless judgement. However, a closer study would find a mer who spends many hours planning any and every prospect and venture with the desire to cut such costs as much as possible
Religious beliefs: He is not an overly religious mer, lending honor and homage only when necessary
Political stance: His family is known notoriously for an ancestor's doomed attempt at dethroning the King ages ago, though rumors among Zed's people tell another story. Exiled to the harsh environment of the distant and relatively unknown volcanic island of Pearl Pyre with the sole purpose of a prolonged execution by starvation or environmental demise, his family and the eventual arrival of other, relatively forgotten exiles over the centuries, instead mysteriously flourished in the blighted environment of the constant fire and lava and lack of crust-born plant life. As such, they hold a moderately legendary position of treacherous pariah with infamous renown. Zedvius is known as the only member to actively attempt to reinstate their name and position within Pyandonean society by means of a decades long pursuit of piracy to help acquire more vessels for the Kings 1000 ship fleet. However, rumors suggest his aim is for something else entirely
Hobbies: He is known to read books on military and naval tactics, strategy, and general diplomacy not limited to his own people
Habits/quirks/eccentricities: Smokes a pipe made from the strange, colorful coral of his misfit island. Generally carries a surly expression with narrowed eyes and haughty frown. Cracks his knuckles absentmindedly. His personality shifts from swarthy seaman to sophisticated noble, which lends to others who have been given the rare gift of seeing both sides to anoint him the epitaph of chameleon, a description befitting his changing skin, as well.
Likes: A very rare vintage of brandy made exclusively for the Emperor of Cyrodiil, stolen from the cellar vaults when Imperial City fell and now sold only through specifically chosen traders (something of my invention). Collects music boxes from all over the world but only exhibits one or two at a time. Likes to read up on other cultures.
Dislikes: Disrespect paid in general, not just of himself. Looks poorly upon those who refuse to pull themselves by their bootstraps when failure inevitably finds them. Unsalted food. Loathes sweets and sugared foods
Strengths/skills: Born leader, mariner, unusually strong affinity for pyromancy, has a knack for raising his wealth, unflappable, a logical thinker, creates his own artistic and accurate maps of various areas. Because he is a student of diplomacy and other cultures, he will surprise others with uncanny knowledge of specific, cultural details, such as dancing, foods, history, etc.
Weaknesses: Quick tempered, disdainful of things he is uninterested in, judgmental, insensitive
Parents: Mother deceased, Father imprisoned on Pyandonea
Siblings: Two sisters and a brother, scattered
Romantic: Lord Lyre Ascentros
Children: None
Friendships and other relationships: His crew, the people of his volcanic island, and various friends scattered over other ports around Tamriel, Annonere Rulius
Of his crew, a few notable characters stand out. There are three Maormer, two of which are perpetually with him at any given time; two men: Pesheh and Leras, and a woman: Zelminvi. There is one large Nordish woman rumored to have Sea Giant blood who serves as his first mate known as Eysing
WIP
He frequents several ports around Tamriel open to Maormer, and as such can be found in Abah's Landing, Anvil, Senchal, Sentinal, etc.
