Child's Pose (Romanian: Poziia copilului) is a 2013 Romanian drama film directed by Clin Peter Netzer. The film premiered in competition at the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival where it won the Golden Bear.[2][3][4] It was screened in the Contemporary World Cinema section at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.[5][6] Luminia Gheorghiu was nominated as the Best Actress at the 26th European Film Awards and the film won the Telia Film Award at the Stockholm International Film Festival 2013.[7] The film was selected as the Romanian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards,[8] but it was not nominated.
On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a "certified fresh" approval rating of 91% based on 79 reviews, and an average rating of 7.5/10. The film was initially refused financing by the Romanian film board due its controversial depiction of the Hungarian minority in Romania. After an intervention by the Minister of Culture, Hunor Kelemen the ruling of the film board was overruled.[11]

What this movie really is about, as the proceedings take a back seat, is Cornelia's attempt to reconnect with Barbu after their relationship has gone sour for reasons left unclear. Reunited by a catastrophe, a life-changing experience to say the least, they both go through a defining moment in their lives that could shake their foundations.
Of all the film festivals that litter the world, the Berlinale is the one that piques my imagination most acutely. More than Cannes or Sundance, Berlin's festival, with its predilection for taut, grounded dramas, tugs at me for my attendance. It doesn't hurt that I love the city as well.
Catching this year's Golden Bear winner, Clin Peter Netzer's Child's Pose (Pozitia copilului), took a bit of schedule shuffling but I made it a priority to give it a slot where I would be sure to catch it in the state of utmost alertness. It turned out to be a good move. I was blown away. For me, Child's Pose is the stand out film of this year's MIFF.
Luminita Gheorghiu (4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days) delivers a heartfelt and thoroughly convincing performance worthy of Oscar consideration next year, in Romania's submission for the foreign language award. Now of course, much like Emmanuelle Riva in last years Amour that reality is considerably distant. The least to be hoped for is to elevate the status of the film for others to take notice.

Cronicarii nu au inut cont de aceast interpretare pe care a ncercat s-o impun regizorul, percepnd filmul ca o oper de art autonom, desprins de perspectiva subiectiv a realizatorului. Iat doar cteva citate cheie din cronicile i comentariile aprute n presa de limb german, n care se analizeaz filmul: "Pornind de la o tragedie personal", scrie ziarul austriac Kleine Zeitung, "Netzer povestete tragedia unei societi, care i-a pierdut i vndut omenia goanei dup bani i putere. Filmul prezint decderea moral a unei societi i critic Poliia i justiia corupt".
Ziarul elveian Neue Zrcher Zeitung calific pelicula lui Netzer drept "un film tare", n care este vorba despre o "mam care are probleme cu desprirea ei de urmai", iar "simul vinoviei" este refulat "prin intermediul corupiei personale i instituionale", ceea ce "scoate la iveal alte aspecte interioare ndoielnice".
