Dr. Zakir Hussain is working as an Assistant Professor (Contractual) in the Department of Cyber Security and Digital Forensics, National Forensic Sciences University (An Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs), Guwahati Campus, Assam, India. Before this, he worked as a Guest Lecturer in the Department of Computer Applications, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Tura Campus, Meghalaya, India. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, National Institute of Technology Silchar in 2024. He obtained his M.Tech. in Information Technology from Gauhati University in 2015. He completed his B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering from Gauhati University in 2012 with Honours and bagged 4th position in the university. Besides these academic degrees, he qualified for eligibility for Assistant Professor in UGC-NET 2024 and had a valid GATE score of 2013. He was the state topper in the subject of General Science in the board examination conducted by the Assam State Board in the year 2005. He was a Guest/Part-time faculty in the level of Assistant Professor at Barak Valley Engineering College, a government of Assam institution in the district of Karimganj. His research interests are in the fields of Machine Learning for Healthcare, Mathematical Biology, Soft Computing, and Natural Language Processing. He holds 2 (two) Patents- one Indian and one German. He has his credit for 20+ articles in Journals, Conferences, and Edited books. He has created a Dataset that is available in IEEE Dataport. He got opportunities to review 95+ articles from 30+ SCI-indexed journals; some articles from international conferences, and some chapters from edited books. He had the privilege to serve as a TPC and PC member of some conferences.

Machine Learning: Integration of the outcomes of machine learning techniques in the design of models for the healthcare domain.
Mathematical Biology: Designing computational models for exploring the correlation of various health parameters with developmental aspects of life, infectious diseases, non-infectious diseases, and associated abnormalities.
Soft Computing: Modification and use of optimization techniques on designing models for management and risk reduction in healthcare.
Blockchain Technology: Application of blockchain technology on various aspects of the healthcare sector.
Natural Language Processing: Application of natural language processing on various aspects of the medical domain.
