The design, fabrication, and investigation of rare-earth, transition metal-based intermetallic and oxides, magnetic thin films and heterostructures are the main focus of the Superconductivity & Magnetism and low dimensional condensed matter Labs at IITK, which is led by Prof. Zakir Hossain.
Current Research Highlights:
Topological, magnetic, and superconducting properties of novel compounds in the form of polycrystals, single crystals, and thin films.
Study of exciting physical properties such as superconductivity, charge density wave, heavy fermion behavior, the Kondo effect, quantum criticality, a complex magnetic ground state, large magnetoresistance, and the anomalous and topological Hall effect.
Fabrication of oxide and metallic magnetic thin films and heterostructures for spintronics and magnonics application.
2D electron gas at the interface of insulating oxides: Kondo effect, spin-orbit interaction, magneto-thermopower and gate voltage tuned of photoconductivity.
Magnetization dynamics, spin wave and magnetic anisotropy in iron garnet single crystalline thin films and metallic thin films.
