Volunteering can be a great way to see a new place and really get immersed in the culture. If you volunteer at Zaidi you will need to meet some of our requirements in line with our child protection policy.
Here are a few things you should know before you volunteer.
We do not allow volunteers to have any alone time with the children. You may not enter their bedrooms or bathrooms. You will be required to always remain in clear sight of staff while you are with the children. You shall agree not to allow yourself to be alone in any room with a child. You may not help a child to change or have any involvement with their clothes, for example if a prickle enters a child’s trousers and the child asks you to remove it, you should remind the child to seek help from someone in their 'Safe circle" and ask an Aunt to assist. You may not discipline a child. You must report any abuse or concerning activity that you whiteness or suspect.
These rules are for the children’s protection and are non negotiable.
You will need a police check from your resident and home countries.
A letter of recommendation and
A copy of your Id.
If you would like to arrange your own accommodation there is no charge.
If you would like to stay with us we will ask you to pay $25 USD per week to cover your food.
We recommend you come in November December, April or August when the kids are on holidays.
Please contact us if you would like to join us.
