Ian's Long Fish Wibbulator is now my top priority. It has been over a year since this project has been in the queue...
The build process is so intricate and time consuming, all for an overall weaker surfboard. I most likely won't be making anymore of these. Here you can see part of the fin installation process. I freehand routed slots to fit my fin tabs. My original Pleskunas board had this fin installation style so the rear end of the fins could wag side to side. Mine will get some roving to make the fins a little more secure (the ones in my Pleskunas broke out).

Here are some recent surfboards that have been completed. Most notable is my new fiance's 9'2 3/4" tri fin egg.
My stringerless 6'10" worked really well but did not hold up going over the falls.
6/4/26
I shaped this 9'2 3/4" board today. I can't tell if it looks crappy or not.

I had been planning on picking up this McCoy style Liddle the whole week mostly to take a template of it. I also got to ride my friend Jonah's 4'11" mini pintail twinzer. It's kind of like a skimboard outline, and really provides the planing/skate of a mini Simmons with tighter and more controlled turning capabilities.
We surfed these tiny waves. I was inspired.
So with that inspiration and this new curve, I started shaping this 5'4". The Liddle is 20" wide and the widepoint is back 4". I took the butt end dimensions out 2", widepoint is now 1" behind center, and the nose is just completely different. One of my goals was to make a board that is as circular as possible. It'll most likely be a tri fin- I'm thinking those Grennan fins, but we'll see.

This is my new board at 6'10" x 18 1/2" x 22 1/2" x 15 1/2" x 2 7/8". The blank is stringerless US Blanks Yellow. Glassing consists of double 4oz top and bottom with double 6.7oz uni-carbon on the rails-middle of the board tapering out none in the nose and tail. Laminated with ISO resin. The white is gel-coat to keep the heat off the carbon, but I mixed up too much material so I got a little ARTSY with it. The board looks a little ragged but it is totally flush, lightweight, and lively. Strength is still TBD...
Toe side box for shock factor.

Here is Ariel's 8'6" ish mini-Glider
And then my stringerless 6'10" hull. I don't think I can say I've worked with stringerless poly before. It really will not hold rocker. I was able to dial in and set the rocker perfectly during glassing.

Some boards from the latest batch:
Diego's 6'5" Gun Fish with custom semi-keel twinzer fins.
Kyle's 6'7" Twinzer Egg
Ray's 5'7" Stubby Kneelo
3/30/36
Here are a few alternate rear fins on my new tri-fin. The full hatchet setup had some moments but overall felt like it both lacked drive and had too much fin in the water. The full base fins might just be better to drive off of.
Al's Twinzer Egg came out great.

Here is a large chunk of my queue all finished up. 5 of them are for Daydream Surf Shop in Newport Beach. The tan 8'er and the 6'5" are sold. The white 8'er is supposed to be for their library, so I'm not sure if that's for sale. The other two are 6'2" and 7'4."
3/9/26
Here are some progress photos of Ray's 5'7"x19 1/4"x23 1/4"x18 1/4" Kneelo. It's probably about 2 3/8" thick after the deck dish. Shallow but angular triplane to help tip it over just a little. Proper stubby rocker and planshape without the roll bottom, it should be insanely fucking fast.
This is a custom surfboard.
3/2/26
Al's 7' Twinzer Egg. The rails and foil are very similar to my Jobson shortboard but stretched out.
Cruz' 8' Winter Magic style board. The outline is a classic speedy Frye and has the roll entry, but from there back the rails and bottom are all Parmy baby! Modest rocker straight from an 8'6" EA.
8' Stretched Out Liddle Burrito/Paul Gross Velo Sim style board for DDSS - This is probably my favorite surfboard to make. Everything just makes sense to me. No BS - No compromises - Just an all out straight line speed machine.

Tyler's 6' Liddle "FAT BASTARD" copy
Justin's 6'2" Speed Dialer
Sean's 8'8" Hull. The rocker came out really nice.

Here is the proposed fin setup for my new board. I've ridden a few boards with this tighter cluster tri-fin setup (not hatchets) and they really feel like you can put them wherever you want on a wave. You can toggle speed precisely throughout a turn or lay into it as hard as you can, and still control the turning radius the whole time. There's a constant feeling of drive. Plus you get that nice anchored feeling with the center fin. Per usual, the entire board is optimized for speed with a totally flat bottom, easy speed producing rocker (from a 6'5" R), chine rail to the nose. It has a flat deck and boxy rails proportioned for me to get a perfect balance of propulsion and handling. This is all hypothetical.
No center would probably be great on this board, but it's good to change it up.
If anything, it looks cool. Why not?

Here are Will's 8'er and Andrew's 6'6" complete and at home.
I also made this 6'2" for myself. I don't have a shortboard right now and am going to Nicaragua in April so I needed something. The idea was to get a lot of planing surface area, parallel outline, and not have too much nose in the way. The wide point is back 2 1/2" I think? 19 3/4" wide, 2 1/2" thick, rail- I'm not sure how to explain. The fin setup will be based on this, but different, as you'll see in future posts. https://nealpurchasedesigns.blogspot.com/2011/06/21fun_05.html

Here are the outlines cut and rocker profiles on 4 of 5 boards for DDSS. 6'2", 6'5", 7'4", and 8' (x2). I swear they look great in person. I'm just bad at taking photos of surfboards

I've had a long few days busting out boards. Thanks for waiting everyone.
Also, I got the snowboard core 2.0 ready to ride waves. Hopefully it works this time.

Here's Tyler's 6' Liddle "FAT BASTARD" copy. I was nervous to shape anything after a few months out of practice but I'ff safely say things are even better than before. I am most familiar with shaping this kind of board but I did try out one new technique to create the S-Deck which worked out considerably better than what I used to do. I've been told about another technique to cut in the belly but I wasn't ready to test that one on a customer's board.

Still not finished with the shaping room. There is serious progress- drywall is up and outlets are in, but one wall remains open. Waiting for my electrician to pull the power through from the panel... still.
I am adding a "Surfboards for Sale" section to the site.
Also, I finally got my 13'er glassed.

I have not been able to finish my shaping room due to not being able to find help with the electrical stuff.
I did however finish up my full on Dirt Machine style Wibbulator that has been unfinished for almost a year now. the final dimensions are 7' (after floppy tail) x 23 1/4" x 2 2/3" (after 1/4" EVA foam). It bends really well and I was able to feel the bounce during the first session at Rincon, not so much during the second at Malibu. The bounce really gets you from Point A to Point B quicker, it just takes some getting used to.
The entire board has belly peaking at the wide point about 10" above center and fades away at both ends. I guess this one resembles the Wild Thing (https://kpsroundup.blogspot.com/2013/04/wild-thing.html) more than a pure Dirt Machine.
This fabric piece is just to fill in the surface area between the fingers.
The flex that I am after in these boards is not to create variable rocker, although when the board flexes the rocker does increase. I hope that the flex returns the board to its natural rocker fast enough to negate that. I really have no interest in doing tighter turns. The goal is to harness the spring and fling you faster and further down the line or up into the curl.

Next up in the queue is Tyler's Burrito. I've made quite a few of these types of boards but Tyler brought in the holy grail of reference boards: Steve Hadley's Fat Bastard, the predecessor, along with Brian Himlan's input- to all of the super-super stubbies Liddle made.
But Before I can start on that, I've got to finish the shaping room makeover. New roof is on and a gracious covered outdoor space to go with it.
