1988 – 1999 Group Leader, Biometrics and Statistical Applications, Alberta Research Council (ARC since 1996, formerly the Alberta Environmental Centre, Vegreville, Alberta, Canada). Supervised 2-3 graduate level statisticians and at least one systems analyst to support project scientists across all disciplines at the Centre. R & D activities included computer intensive methods for planning and analyzing data, dynamic graphical applications, developing statistical models for analyzing environmental and resource-based data, including air, water and soil data with high frequencies of measurements "below detection limits".

Mainly characterizing the multivariate structure (genetics and micro environments) of lodgepole pine populations and establishing a lab for recombinant DNA studies of forest trees; I also served on two graduate committees in forest genetics and acted as Advisor for one of those, who ultimately cloned a segment of an actin protein gene from the nuclear genome of lodgepole pine: Dr. B. Dancik, supervisor.

1975 (summer) Graduate Research Assistant, while working on my MSc. Worked with Dr. Charles Rick of UC, Davis, doing studies on the genetics and evolution of tomatoes.
1974 (summer) Research Fellow, grant from the Western Forest Genetics Association and resident at the Institute of Forest Genetics, Pacific Southwest Forest and Range Experiment Station, Placerville, California. Work devoted to learning methods for obtaining biochemical genetic markers:
