While playtesting for my 4th-year Capstone game with my team, we found that players had started to lose interest in overworld segments. This was concerning to us as a team, as many of the clues to puzzle within the game rest in these overworld segments. To combat this, I took a deep dive into what can increase player attention to a project-level design, finding that using connections to the story helps both invest players in your world and give them more context for the world they inhabit in the game. How I did this is documented in the video on the left.
