Zach Taylor is the author of Rockstar: Echoes, winner of the 2026 National Indie Excellence Award and an Eric Hoffer Award finalist. His Rockstar series explores music, ambition, grief, identity, and the people caught between who they are and who the world expects them to become.

By day, Taylor is a NASA engineer at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. A graduate of the University of Alabama in Huntsville, his career supporting human spaceflight has included recognition with NASA’s Silver Snoopy Award, along with numerous engineering and program commendations.

Taylor also writes for Mixed Alternative Magazine, covering rock, alternative, and independent music through interviews, artist features, and live-event coverage. His work focuses on the people behind the music, often exploring creativity, identity, ambition, trauma, and the stories that shape the songs.

A lifelong music fan and writer, Taylor draws heavily from the culture and sound of the 1990s and 2000s. His fiction blends rock mythology, the realities of the music industry, and deeply personal stories about relationships, loss, reinvention, and the cost of becoming the person everyone expects you to be.

Taylor lives in Huntsville, Alabama, with his family.
