HIPs meet the following requirements:
considerable time and effort required (typically a semester or longer),
facilitated learning outside the classroom,
meaningful interactions between faculty, staff, students, or community partners,
collaboration across disciplines and cultures,
frequent and meaningful feedback and guidance from mentors, staff, faculty, peers,
reflective and integrative learning opportunity by documenting and reflecting on the HIP experience in ePortfolio,
public demonstration of competence through publishing or presenting.

These projects helped suspend my learning within the body of my knowledge. In many ways they were the most valuable learning tools I had available to me.
The Honors Program at SLCC supplied myself and others a tuition waiver, and without that I would not have been able to pursue HIPs as rigorously as I have here.
One-on-one time with faculty and peers led to the culmination of these projects. It is not worth much without the coordination, cooperation, and collaboration between active participants.
That said, I've included some High Impact Practices from my daily life, outside the academic institution.
