A piece inspired by the intro to Pokemon Sapphire/Ruby. Pokemon games have always inspired joy and wonder in me. My mom got me Pokemon Sapphire when I was a kid, and although I’d played earlier versions, it was the first one I fully completed on my own. I wanted to elicit that same childish wonder I experience in the games with this piece, this time with Jim and Archie as the leads. (Medium: Pen/ink and watercolor on 110lbs multimedia paper)
The classic dawn scene from 2005 Pride and Prejudice reimagined with Ed and Stede. (Medium: Digital art)
Ed and Stede are having a day! Join these co-captains in exploring a strange new world. You'll end up finding more than you could ever dream of* on Alpha Centauri! *Falling in love not guaranteed. (Medium: Digital art)
Rosey Melon Mothra Stede. I moved to Japan last year and have always loved monsters, so naturally Godzilla and Mothra pop up in my brain space that is mainly crowded out by OFMD. I'm currently working on a beaded jacket with Kraken Edzilla, and a kind soul in the fandom suggested Mothra Stede with Rosey Melon moth wings. He'll be showing up in a more vengeful state on my jacket, but this is my first crack at him. I'll be sending him to whomever wins! (Medium: Glass seed beads embroidered on purple felt)
Buttons (with Karl!) as the Lady of the Lake from Arthurian legend. (Medium: Digital drawing)
A medieval manuscript-style illustration of Ed and Stede sharing a sweet romantic moment outdoors, wrapped in a border full of flowers, vines, and little Ed grotesques.
There's magic in the air, and the Revenge is riding the tide into the stars! (Medium: Mixed media embroidery with glass beads)
What if the crew of The Revenge made it to China and were commemorated as a Willow Pattern plate design? Ed and Stede enjoy a cup of tea whilst looking out over the scene (see if you can find the rest of the crew). (Medium: Embroidery on cotton fabric)
This art features Ed fulfilling his dream of being a fisherman. Drawn in ancient Egyptian style and inspired by a scene from the ancient Egyptian tomb of Menna, Ed is spearing a bolti fish in the papyrus marshes, lovingly supported by Stede who is holding a fish Ed has already speared. Louis and Alma have joined the fishing excursion, and have picked water lilies from the river. Bolti fish and water lilies were symbols of eternal life.
What if Ed and Stede actually eloped to China at the end of S1E09? Now we see them dressing in tranditional Hanfu and discussing a book about their own adventure.
In a world of regular travel through time and space via train, Stede has an ambition to bring back old-fashioned glamour with his lovingly built train, The Starlit Stede. As well as being ornately designed it gives back to the universe by birthing baby stars as it transports its passengers in style. (Medium: Colour pencils on pastel paper)
"WANTED" -- A Wanted Poster of Lego Cowboys Ed and Izzy on horseback with Lego Cowboy Stede holding their wanted poster excitedly. (Medium: Digital art)
I wanted to try to portray Stede as an ancient Roman nobleman while making Ed more of a Gaulish or Germanic chieftain. I felt their story could be told almost exactly the same way even thousands of years ago versus centuries ago. (Medium: Sketchbook paper and colored pencils.)
Ed and Stede take a vacation to the tropical paradise of Margaritaville, as made famous by Jimmy Buffett, to enjoy some frozen cocktails and relax on the beach.
Inspired by 1950s comics. Ed and Stede are having a day out skating on a frozen lake, joined by Karl and Olivia. Ed is having fun! Stede... needs more practice. (Medium: Digital art)
Lately, the art I've been creating in my free time has centered around an AU where Stede and Ed live in the American Southwest. Here, we have Stede and Ed on horseback, riding off into the sunset together. (Medium: Digital)
Ever since THAT episode I’ve been wanting to draw a merStede. Preferably one based on a La Vie Parisienne art nouveau poster from 1925 that I love. Mine turned out quite differently of course, but hopefully showing in my own way the love and comfort so many of us found in OFMD. 💜 (Medium: Digital cartoon made in Procreate)
In an alternate universe where Ed and Stede opened the bar/store of their dreams. (Medium: Digital)
Ed and Stede are in Kraken Park, a very strange place where anything can happen once the sun goes down. Ed has been before and is excited to show his best friend and Sasquatch enthusiast, Stede. (Medium: Digital artwork created in Procreate)
They say that home is where the heart is and this has been proven over and over again in all the alternate universes that have been made featuring Edward Teach and Stede Bonnet. In this world, they're in the garden, helping to create a new home on a new planet. They're both excited about their deeply cool adventure and maybe just a little bit nervous, but they feel right at home because they have each other. (Medium: Digital creation)
Birding is my third favorite thing, so I gave Ed and Stede some feathers. High may they soar!
Ed and Stede are depicted as a NASA Astronaut, Captain Nelson, and the magical character, Jeannie, from the 1965 sitcom I Dream of Jeannie. The scene I've drawn is their first meeting as shown in the opening credits. Ed has crash-landed on a deserted island, and accidentally freed Stedie from his bottle. (Medium: Digitally hand drawn)
I was inspired by the story of Thumbelina- the idea of being smaller than the flora and the fauna felt so magical to me. Imagine daisies being as tall as trees! Although, that would make the common house spider also ginormous and that's a bit too daunting a prospect for me. I chose Frenchie to embark on their particular evergreen adventure through the magical undergrowth. Although he would probably think me a witch for doing so... (Medium: Digital art)
What are we really doing here if we neglect to answer the ultimate question: what if Our Flag Means Death but the characters are catpeople? Or perhaps just one character in particular? A character that bears a striking resemblance to show creator David Jenkins, famous across all social media platforms for his deep love of our feline friends. Catptain David Jenkins, we salute you.
Many parts of the 1990s can stay there, but I miss lots of the pop culture! There's no experience quite like playing a corny dating game with a friend you'd rather be corny dating instead. (Medium: Pencil crayon drawing, digital background/text)
I've always loved the idea of landscapes that don't exist in our own world, ones that literally can't exist due to physics, and floating islands are one of these. I thought it would be cute if Ed and Stede could retire to an island in the sky rather than one on the sea! But of course to keep it slightly ocean themed I included sky fish and a cute little lighthouse! Maybe in this world they're lighthouse keepers rather than innkeepers.
Combining 80s childhood nostalgia and our favorite pirates. You can’t go wrong, really. (Medium: Digital painting)
Stede and Ed are taking a break after a long day of inn keeping to snuggle on the beach and watch the beautiful colors of the sunset together. It just makes me happy to think of them getting to have so many soft and peaceful moments like this for the rest of their lives. (Medium: Procreate)
Illustration of Ed and Stede as fairies by their little fairy house on the beach.
Three cats representing Izzy, Ed, and Stede sit in a window and enjoy a serene sunset. (Medium: Digital art)
Anne and Mary dance the night away as the twenties roar around them. We're pretty sure the carpet was red when they got there. Pretty sure. But you can never be entirely sure with these two merry murder wives. (Medium: Digital art)
Ed and Stede in traditional outfits (Kraków, Poland). In the background very polish landscape with two storks, a field of grain, poppies and cornflowers (Medium: Digital art)
This view is inspired by one I sought out when I was a teen, and that I gifted to Ed Teach in my fic 'Fill My Heart Again'. This view always reminds me that the universe is immense and beautiful and full of wonder and joy. (Medium: Multimedia on paper, using alcohol-based marker, pencil, crayon and metallic pens)
A 1900s Arctic mountaineering meet-cute where Ed finds Stede dangling in a crevasse halfway to the summit. Loosely based on my own experiences running around glaciers in Alaska and falling in love with the blue so much I made a new home there.
The universe is yours to seek out who and what you love. Long May You Roam <3 (Medium: Digital art - Procreate)
I spy a lighthouse, a mermaid, a toe,
Stede's dagger, Ed's knee brace, twelve keys in a row,
five noses, a nibbled-on breakfast, a moon,
a jungle cat, and a familiar tune.
(Medium: Digital art)
Tiny space explorers Ed and Stede having fun on Planet Queer :) (Medium: Digital art)
This piece is inspired by the Ghibli film, Howl’s Moving Castle! Ed and Stede are dancing across a starry sky at twilight with shooting stars that surround them. I love incorporating my two favorite characters into my favorite movies whenever there’s any opportunity! (Medium: Digital art)
Ed and Stede are in ancient Rome, with Ed lounging as Stede leans over the balcony above, offering grapes. I like to envision a little time travel backstory in them getting to see this very different time and place! (Medium: Digital art)
This piece was inspired by the film that introduced me to anime and my all-time fav manga, Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind by Hayao Miyazaki. Nausicaa is partly based on a Japanese folk tale called "The Princess who Loved Insects", which I thought was perfect for Stede. Ed's style is a combination of Yupa and Kushana. Together they are working to find new, softer ways of surviving in a harsh world. (Medium: Acrylic paint and pen on cardboard canvas, digital editing)
Ed and Stede in every universe, even two-dimensionally bonding over seven sugars and a dollop of milk. It wouldn't be the same with six. (Medium: Digital art)
In this piece, Ed and Stede are enjoying an evening together on the beach. There's a fire! There are wine glasses! A grand time is being had by all. (Medium: Digital media--made in Procreate)
I feel like Ed and Stede's love fit so well with the devotion of the traditional romantic ballads. I took inspiration from the painting La Belle Dame sans Merci to portray Stede as the knight who's struck by the sight of a beautiful and otherworldly looking stranger as a fun nod to their first meeting. (Medium: Digital art)
Two wolves! I’ve had pet rabbits since I was a kid and they always make a house feel like a home for me. So here are Ed and Stede in rabbit-form, hopefully staying well away from Mary Read’s snares. (Medium: Digital art)
This postcard is Pre-Raphaelite meets the flower fairies. Everyone deserves a little medieval gallantry, especially Stede and Ed, and if they have butterfly wings as well, then that's a little something extra. (The beetle is called Arthur, he has kind eyes.) (Medium: Digital painting)
I always look to music for inspiration with my work and and adore a modern AU set in a world where Stede and/or Ed are musicians. I want to watch them fall in love to a killer soundtrack in every universe. (Medium: Digital art)
DJ Wee John welcomes you to Calypso’s party at the city’s hottest club: The Revenge. Enjoy yourself or face Calypso’s wrath! (Medium: Digital art)
There's something timeless and a bit magic about a forest holloway. I thought Ed and Stede might enjoy meandering down one. (Medium: Digital illustration)
