In 2020, Friends of the Yampa surveyed 66 local env/rec experts to identify top concerns, recreation hazards and access needs, and locations where river flows or riparian restoration projects are needed. Results are presented on the env/rec pages of the Stakeholder Data Summary.

In 2020-21 consultants working with the IWMP conducted a remote assessment of the river's landscape to help identify areas of high and low ecological function. A fishery expert also reviewed decades of fishery data to document any trends in populations. More information is available on the Assess Conditions page.
