About Me

Hi, I am Yuyang Pu. I am a Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Political Science at the University of Pittsburgh.

I study propaganda and its effects on public opinion and political behaviors, with a primary focus on China. I am particularly interested in how authoritarian governments use propaganda to consolidate their rule domestically and to win support internationally. I am also interested in identifying the main factors that influence female representation in Chinese politics and exploring effective strategies for encouraging women's political participation.

My teaching expertise encompasses a wide range of introductory courses, including International Relations, Comparative Politics, American Politics, and Research Methods. Additionally, I have taught upper-level courses such as Chinese Politics and Propaganda and Censorship. Before joining the University of Pittsburgh, I taught at the University of Houston and Siena College.

I received a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Houston in 2022, an M.A. in Political Science from Central Michigan University in 2014, and a B.A. in Law from Southwest University of Political Science and Law in 2011.
