Welcome to my site! I’m Yuxuan Jin. I know it can be a little tricky if you’re not familiar with Chinese - so if it feels easier, you can just call me Lawrence. Totally your choice!
I’m a first-year Ph.D. student in the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications at Pennsylvania State University, where I’m advised by Dr. Homero Gil de Zúñiga. Before this, I earned my B.A. in Journalism at Xiamen University Malaysia in 2023, supervised by Dr. Lai Fong Yang. I then got my M.A. in Mass Communication from the University of Florida’s College of Journalism and Communications, where I am lucky enough to work with Dr. Won-Ki Moon and Dr. Yuan Sun to do some interesting research.
My research interest lies at the intersection of political communication, communication technology, and media psychology. More specifically, focusing on people's psychology and behavior, I am interested in (1) their everyday political communication and (2) their daily experiences with communication technologies, especially under the political context. Currently, I am working on research related to celebrity political endorsement (CPE), political news consumption on social media, and the hottest topic, AI (lol) and democracy.
Outside of research, you’ll probably find me scrolling on my phone, chatting with friends, taking photos, or posting something online (sometimes all at once).
Thanks for stopping by—I’m glad you’re here👋
