Yuval Adereth
Having played the violin and been an artist and a sculptor for many years I decided that I wanted to be a violin maker. In 1991 I was accepted on the violin making course at the: Scuola Internazionale di Liuteria "Antonio Stradivari" Cremona, Italy. At the end of my four years of study, I graduated with honors, received a Masters Degree (Maestro) and won a scholarship for being the best student of my year.
After graduating I worked in the workshop of Bruce Carlson and Bernard Newman, one of the most famous workshops of violin making in Cremona. My duties included making new instruments, repairs and reconstruction of old and valuable instruments. I also took a course in making bows with Giovanni Lucchi
In October 1997, I returned to Israel where I opened my own business restoring, repairing and building stringed instruments in Tel-Aviv.
Among my clients now are musicians from the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra as well as many other professional players
My Workshop
In my workshop you will find a variety of handmade violin, violas and cellos for sale including my own. Instruments range from those suitable for top professionals to student players. I am very happy to recommend and advise anyone on the suitability of an instrument
I undertake repairs of all kinds from the smallest scratch to a full reconstruction.
My services include a free overall check of your instrument to ensure that it is set up correctly to produce the best quality sound.
I have a stock of accessories for sale including strings, chin rests, rosin and lots more.
Everyone is welcome at my workshop by appointment, either to buy or try an instrument, to have a repair undertaken or just to look around. I also lecture on the history of the violin and on violin making in Hebrew and English.
My Instruments
My own instruments are made to the specification according to the school of Cremona. Making a violin is a highly skilled process which can take up to five months. There are a variety of models to choose from, the popular being the ‘Stradivarius’ model. However every handmade instrument is an individual work of art and no two are exactly the same
All instruments are made only using hand tools. Woods used are spruce for the front, maple for the back, ribs and scroll and ebony for the fingerboard. The woods I use are dried naturally and are selected carefully for their quality and in order to create the best results. My varnish is handmade using only natural ingredients and all violins are finished to the highest standard
