Welcome!

I am Yutong Chen, a Ph.D. candidate in Accounting at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. I am on the 2026–2027 academic job market. 

I study how management control systems and organizational practices shape employee behavior and firm performance. My research focuses on the design and consequences of managerial control, with particular interests in digital technologies, AI-enabled management, knowledge transfer, and workplace decision making. I employ a range of empirical methods, including field experiments, archival analyses, and surveys, leveraging proprietary data from organizations as well as large-scale field settings. My job market paper examines the effect of star mentors on apprentices' knowledge transfer outcomes. 

In my spare time, I enjoy being with my cat Jelly, experimenting with new recipes, and playing the accordion.
