Title of the Video : Preparing for the English Test
Overview of the Video:
Provide a brief description of the video conversation. Describe the setting, context, and characters involved. What is the main topic or scenario covered in the video? How does the conversation help learners practice speaking skills? Consider including the situation or topic (e.g., ordering food at a restaurant, making an appointment, small talk in a workplace).
The video conversation takes place in a classroom setting, where three students Yusma, Sukma, and Dhya are discussing an upcoming English tests cheduled for Friday. The context revolves around exam preparation, with a focus on grammar and vocabulary, especially past tense, prepositions, and irregular verbs. Dhya expresses anxiety about making grammar mistakes, particularly with prepositions like "in," "on," and "at," while Yusma admits she hasn’t studied yet. Sukma plays the role of the supportive friend by suggesting they study together, offering to share a list of common mistakes, and bringing her grammar book to help.
The main topic of the conversation is planning a group study session to prepare for an English test.
This scenario helps learners practice speaking skills in a real-life context by:
l Encouraging the use of everyday expressions related to studying and exams
l Practicing past tense and prepositions
l Promoting collaborative learning and peer support vocabulary
l Offering opportunities to rehearse natural conversations among friends
It simulates small talk in an academic setting, where students organize their study strategy, express feelings (like stress or confidence), and support each other—making it ideal for role plays or classroom speaking practice.
What level is the video addressed to?
The video is aimed at beginner to lower-intermediate level learners (A2–B1 on the CEFR scale). It uses simple language, basic vocabulary, and everyday sentence structures, making it suitable for students who are developing their speaking skills in real-life academic situations, such as preparing for an English test.
English Material Content: What is the video lesson focused on?
The video lesson focuses on:
- Grammar, especially the past tense and prepositions ("in," "on," and "at")
- Vocabulary related to studying and exams
- Speaking skills, such as expressing feelings (nervousness), offering help, and making plans
- Collaborative communication in a school setting
This video helps learners understand basic grammar usage and build confidence in speaking through a natural, relatable conversation.
Reflection:
In this section, explain the following:
● What did you learn through this project about designing web-based learning materials?
Answer: Through this project, I learned a lot about designing web-based learning materials, especially how to create content that is engaging, clear, and level-appropriate for English language learners. I also realized the importance of using authentic situations in video materials to help learners connect the lesson with real-life contexts.
● How do you think this project will benefit learners who watch your video?
Answer: I believe this project will greatly benefit learners who watch our video because it presents a relatable and realistic conversation among students. It helps learners practice speaking skills, understand common grammar mistakes, and build confidence in using English in daily school situations.
● What aspect(s) of the project are you most satisfied with? Why?
Answer: The aspect I’m most satisfied with is the script and the teamwork. The dialogue flows naturally, and it includes useful expressions and grammar points. Our team also worked well together in planning, rehearsing, and supporting each other throughout the process.
● What is the challenge in completing the project?
Answer: One of the main challenges we faced during this project was finding a suitable place to take the video. It was difficult to find a quiet and appropriate location that looked like a classroom and allowed us to record without distractions. Despite that, we managed to overcome it and complete the video successfully.
