Yu Shan (单禹), Ph.D., FRM

I am a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Finance at Syracuse University, Whitman School of Management. Prior to joining Syracuse University, I served as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Finance at Concordia University, John Molson School of Business, between 2019 and 2022. I earned my Ph.D. in Finance at the Baruch College, Zicklin School of Business, in 2019. I also hold an MSc degree in Financial Engineering from the University of Southern California, and a Bachelor's degree in Finance from the Central University of Finance and Economics. 

I conduct research broadly in the areas of banking and financial intermediation, focusing on issues related to FinTech, consumer finance, social networks, systemic risk, managerial behavior, and corporate social responsibility. I teach FinTech for senior undergraduate and graduate business majors at Syracuse University and taught Management of Financial Institutions for senior undergraduate Finance majors and Special Topics in Finance - Banking for graduate Finance majors at Concordia University. I also taught Banking at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen).
