If you want a direct replacement for your Nissan or Infiniti coolant reservoir that offers a straightforward, cost-effective upgrade with clear thread compatibility, choose YUPIKJI 2PCS; if you need a heavy-duty, rust-resistant stainless steel cap to maintain precise pressure stability in a Toyota or Lexus engine bay, choose Purthog Radiator Cap Replacement. This isn't about guessing which one is "better" in a vacuum; it's about matching the specific engineering requirements of your vehicle's cooling system to the right hardware.
• YUPIKJI 2PCS: Its biggest strength is the dual-pack value and broad compatibility with Infiniti and Nissan models like the G35, FX37, and Murano; its trade-off is the standard plastic construction which prioritizes fit over heavy-duty metal durability.
• Purthog Radiator Cap Replacement: Its standout feature is the stainless steel core designed for superior rust resistance and a precise 108kPa pressure rating; its trade-off is that it is strictly limited to Toyota and Lexus applications and comes as a single unit.
• Who each pick is for: The YUPIKJI option is ideal for owners of older Nissans looking to replace caps in pairs without breaking the bank, while the Purthog unit is the choice for drivers of high-performance Toyotas who need maximum corrosion protection and exact pressure maintenance.
The YUPIKJI coolant reservoir cap is built specifically for the cooling systems found in a wide range of Infiniti and Nissan vehicles. If you drive a model like the EX35, G37, Juke, or even the older 350Z, this part is engineered to slot directly into your existing setup. The key here is the OEM cross-reference capability; it replaces part numbers like 21712-79900 and AM-4118851190, meaning you aren't just buying a generic cap but a component designed to mimic the original factory specifications exactly. This level of specificity reduces the risk of fitment issues, which is often the biggest headache when sourcing aftermarket parts.
What makes this product particularly appealing for many North American truck and SUV owners is the material composition. It is constructed from high-quality plastic that boasts excellent wear resistance and high-temperature tolerance. In the hot summer months or during long highway drives, a cooling system cap takes a beating from heat cycles. This design promises to resist deformation and damage, maintaining its condition even after long-term use. The yellow color coding also serves a practical purpose, making it easy to identify during routine maintenance checks under the hood.
However, this product isn't for everyone. It is primarily a reservoir overflow cap rather than a primary radiator pressure cap, and it relies on plastic threading rather than a metal core. If your vehicle requires a heavy-duty metal cap to handle extreme pressure spikes or if you are running in an environment with severe road salt exposure where metal corrosion is a major concern, you might find the plastic build less reassuring than a solid metal alternative. Furthermore, since it is sold as a 2-piece pack, it is perfect for fleet maintenance or replacing both front and rear caps on a dual-reservoir system, but if you only need one spare for a quick fix, the packaging might feel slightly oversized.

When we look at the Purthog Radiator Cap Replacement, the focus shifts entirely to durability and pressure precision. This is not just a cover; it is a critical pressure-regulating component made with a stainless steel core. This distinction matters significantly for owners of Toyota and Lexus vehicles, such as the Camry, Highlander, Tundra, or the GS and RX series. The stainless steel construction is explicitly marketed as more durable than standard iron caps, offering exceptional resistance to rust and deformation. In regions where winter road salt is prevalent or where engines run at consistently high temperatures, this material choice provides a tangible layer of protection against the elements that degrades cheaper components over time.
The engineering behind this cap centers on maintaining a stable internal pressure of 108kPa. By keeping the pressure within this specific range, the cap effectively raises the boiling point of the coolant, which enhances heat dissipation efficiency. This is crucial for preventing engine overheating, especially in heavier vehicles like the 4Runner or Sequoia that might be towing or climbing grades. The design ensures that the cooling system operates within safe parameters, securing long-term stable engine operation. Unlike some generic replacements that might leak or fail to hold pressure, the Purthog unit is designed with a precise seal to avoid these common failure points.
This product is best suited for those who prioritize longevity and precise mechanical performance over volume discounts. Since it is sold as a single unit count, it targets the individual owner who needs a reliable replacement for a specific OEM part number like 16401-31520 or 16401-46610. It fits a vast array of models from the early 90s ES300 to the modern RC300 and Prius C, but the strict requirement to verify your OEM part number means it is less of a "universal" solution and more of a targeted replacement tool. If you have a Toyota or Lexus and want a cap that won't corrode away in five years, this is the logical choice.
• Best for Pickup Trucks and SUVs (Nissan/Infiniti) → YUPIKJI 2PCS because it covers the specific coolant reservoir needs of the 370Z, Murano, and QX70 lines.
• Best for High-Rust Environments → Purthog Radiator Cap Replacement due to its stainless steel core which outperforms plastic in corrosion resistance.
• Best Value for Bulk Replacement → YUPIKJI 2PCS as it provides two units, allowing you to replace both caps on a system or keep a backup in the glove box.
• Best for Precise Pressure Control → Purthog Radiator Cap Replacement because it guarantees a stable 108kPa rating to maximize coolant boiling points.
• Best for Toyota/Lexus Owners → Purthog Radiator Cap Replacement given its direct compatibility with Camry, Highlander, and Lexus GS/RX models.
• Best for Simple DIY Installation → Both offer simple installation, but YUPIKJI 2PCS is noted for its clear threads that fit closely, reducing the chance of cross-threading on plastic reservoirs.
• Best for Long-Term Durability → Purthog Radiator Cap Replacement because stainless steel resists the thermal cycling and chemical exposure better than standard plastic.
• Best for Specific OEM Replacements → YUPIKJI 2PCS for Nissan part numbers like 21712-79900, while Purthog handles the 16401-series Toyota codes.
After weighing the specs and the intended use cases, I would personally buy the Purthog Radiator Cap Replacement for my own daily driver, specifically because I prioritize the stainless steel construction and the guaranteed 108kPa pressure stability. The peace of mind that comes from knowing the cap won't corrode or lose its seal in harsh weather conditions outweighs the convenience of getting two caps at once. However, if I were managing a fleet of Nissan trucks or SUVs where the budget per unit was tight and the application was strictly a coolant reservoir overflow, I would switch immediately to the YUPIKJI 2PCS for its volume and perfect fitment for those specific brands. For pickup trucks in general, if you are driving a Toyota, go with Purthog for the metal durability; if you are driving a Nissan, stick with YUPIKJI for the correct fit.
No, the YUPIKJI 2PCS is designed specifically as a coolant reservoir overflow cap for Infiniti and Nissan vehicles, not as a high-pressure radiator cap for the main radiator tank.
You should not mix them; they are engineered for different vehicle platforms and pressure systems. Always match the cap to the specific OEM part number required by your manufacturer.
The price difference is driven by the material quality; the Purthog cap uses a stainless steel core for superior rust resistance, whereas the YUPIKJI uses a durable plastic formulation.
