I am Yunchuan Chen, an assistant professor of the practice of Japanese and Linguistics. I am also the Japanese program coordinator at Duke University. Since July 2020, I have been serving as the Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies at Duke.
I received my Ph.D. in Japanese linguistics from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. My advisor is Shin Fukuda.
My research interests are L2 acquisition and heritage languages.
