Yuanye' site

My name is Yuanye Ma (马元晔). I am a senior research associate at the Discovery Partners Institute of the University of Illinois. My research seeks culturally contextualized understandings of information concepts, and I explore ways to implement these understandings in specific information technology designs and applications.

My studies have appeared in Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology, Journal of Information, Communication & Society, Journal of Information Science, among other peer reviewed conferences.

I received Ph.D. in Information Science from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I also hold a M.S. in Information Science specializing in Information Policy from University of Michigan Ann Arbor, and a B.A. in Information and Library Science from Soochow University. Prior to academia, I was a market analyst in China for a few years.
