YouTube Notes AI ("we", "our", or "the extension") is designed to help users analyze YouTube videos by generating summaries, transcripts, key moments, creator insights, and decision-oriented reports.

1. Information We Process

The extension processes the following information from the currently open YouTube video when the user activates the extension:

  Video title

• 
  Video description

• 
  Transcript or captions, when available

• 
  Comments, when enabled by the user

• 
  Video metadata such as views, likes, publish date, tags, and channel name

• 
  The URL of the active YouTube video page

The extension may also process the user’s optional OpenRouter API key or YouTube Data API key if the user enters it in the extension settings.

2. How We Use Information

We use this information only to:

  Generate summaries and notes

• 
  Extract transcript and timestamped highlights

• 
  Create creator and learning insights

• 
  Produce report scores such as Knowledge Pulse, virality, visibility, and ranking confidence

• 
  Save user preferences and locally cached analysis results

• 
  Let the user download transcripts or reports

3. Storage

• 
  User preferences and cached reports are stored locally in the browser using chrome.storage.local.

• 
  Optional API keys entered by the user are stored locally on the user’s device.

• 
  We do not intentionally store user content on our own servers unless required by third-party APIs used for analysis.

4. Third-Party Services

The extension may send selected video content or metadata to third-party APIs only for the purpose of providing the extension’s functionality:

• 
  OpenRouter API for AI analysis

• 
  YouTube Data API for video metadata and caption-related retrieval

These services may process the data according to their own terms and privacy policies.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell user data.

We do not transfer user data to third parties except:

  To provide the extension’s core features through approved API calls

  When required by law

6. User Control

Users can:

  Change extension settings

  Clear cached analysis results

  Remove stored API keys from the extension settings

  Stop using the extension at any time
