1. Multiscale Mechanics & Physics-Informed Modeling for Additive Manufacturing (AM) Materials (on-going)
· Developed integrated FEM–MD–DFT frameworks to uncover thermal–mechanical degradation pathways and structural transitions in AM metal alloys.
· Quantified local entropy, stress fields, diffusion behavior, and electronic structure variations to establish mechanistic descriptors governing powder reuse and part quality.
· Constructed physics-informed ML models linking processing conditions to microstructure and mechanical response for alloy systems such as Ti- and Al-based powders.
· Performed nanoscale simulations (indentation, scratching, thermal cycling) to derive design maps for reliable AM material performance.
2. Interfacial Transport & Thin-Film Instability in Lubrication and Confined Fluids
· Investigated droplet and thin-film instabilities using thermodynamic and statistical mechanical approaches.
· Modeled molecular transport, mixing, and flow behavior in confined geometries under external fields.
· Analyzed rheological and tribological responses of contaminated lubricants and developed predictive physics-based models.
3. Experimental Tribology & Data-Driven Validation
· Conducted EHL, rheometry, and UMT measurements to validate simulation-based predictions for lubricants and thin films.
· Built real-time HIL control platforms (MATLAB/Simulink + dSPACE) for mechanical systems such as unmanned vehicles.
· Characterized AM-processed metal/polymer products, linking experimental outcomes to simulation-identified mechanisms.
