YT Grid Companion is designed to help users organize open YouTube videos into a local browser based grid.
YT Grid Companion may handle the following data:
Open YouTube video tab URLs when you choose an import action.
YouTube video IDs extracted from those URLs.
Your saved video list.
Your grid display settings.
Your theme preferences.
Your optional YouTube Data API key if you choose to add one.
Public YouTube video metadata, such as title, channel name, thumbnail, upload date, and view count where available.
Open YouTube video tab URLs are used only to add videos to your local YT Grid. Saved videos and settings are used to display and customize your grid. If you add a YouTube Data API key, the extension uses it to request enhanced public video metadata from the YouTube Data API.
YT Grid Companion stores your saved videos, settings, theme preferences, and optional YouTube API key locally in your browser. This data is not sent to the extension developer. Browser local storage is not encrypted, so you should use a restricted API key and remove it if you no longer need enhanced metadata.
The extension may request public video metadata from YouTube oEmbed. If you provide your own YouTube Data API key, the extension may request additional public metadata from the YouTube Data API. These requests are sent to YouTube or Google API services, not to the extension developer.
YT Grid Companion does not sell user data. YT Grid Companion does not send your saved video list, local settings, or optional API key to the extension developer. Data may be sent to YouTube or Google APIs only as needed to retrieve public video metadata for the user facing grid feature.
The tabs permission is used only when you choose an import action. It allows the extension to find currently open YouTube video tabs and import their URLs into YT Grid.
The contextMenus permission is used to provide extension actions from Chrome context menus.
Host permissions are limited to YouTube and Google API hosts so the extension can import YouTube videos and request public metadata.
YT Grid Companion only closes YouTube video tabs when you explicitly choose "Close all YouTube video tabs and import them." Opening the extension or opening YT Grid by itself does not close your tabs.
You can clear saved videos inside the app using the Clear All option. You can remove the optional API key in Settings. You can also remove all extension data by uninstalling the extension or clearing extension site data in Chrome.
