YouTube is one of the most popular platforms in the world for watching, sharing, and uploading videos. Whether you want to subscribe to your favorite channels, leave comments, or even start your own channel, you’ll first need to register for a YouTube account.
step-by-step guide to help you get started
Open your web browser and go to www.youtube.com.
If you’re using a smartphone, you can also download the YouTube app from the Google Play Store (for Android) or the App Store (for iPhone).
On the top-right corner of the YouTube homepage, click “Sign in.”
You’ll be redirected to a Google sign-in page because YouTube is part of Google.
If you don’t already have a Google Account, click on “Create account.”
You’ll see three options:
For myself
For my child
For work or my business
Choose the one that best fits your purpose.
Most users should select “For myself.”
Enter your:
First and last name
Username (your new Gmail address)
Password (create a strong one you can remember)
Then click Next to continue.
Google may ask for your phone number to verify your identity.
Enter the number, and you’ll receive a verification code by SMS.
Type in the code to confirm.
You can add a recovery email address and your date of birth.
This helps you recover your account in case you forget your password later.
Read through Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, then click “I Agree” to finish creating your Google Account.
Once your account is created, go back to YouTube.
You’re now automatically signed in with your new Google account.
From here, you can:
Subscribe to your favorite channels
Like and comment on videos
Create playlists
Upload your own videos
Start your own YouTube channel
