WARNING : Flashing even smallest software patch can brick the HU. Most important safety step is to do Simple System BackUp first. Many people seek flashing firmware to improve performance (but it doesn't improve much). Here are improvement suggestions General Solution To Faster HU
All the info in here is a summary of what is available scattered around forum threads (XDA and 4PDA). All the credit goes towards all the posters in these threads. This webpage is meant to point to all the key info for people encountering these issues for the first time and hopefully save them some scanning through threads.
Obviously all the info comes with out warranty. I've tried to gather the most accurate info but do note there are a lot of HW SW combinations which produces different results. When watching linked posts, please also take a look at their timestamp. Firmware development is moving further and some information may not be valid for later firmwares.
Any updates and feedback is welcome at howardc64
Credits to piotrmocko for initial and early contribution and lenoid for pioneering backup solutions and much website / repository structural / clean up reorganization after 2 years of accumulation. @achushatz for the awesome System Backup tool to help everyone quickly and safely backup to gather files to upgrade firmware and brick recovery.
This website was developed because xyauto provided many firmware and software upgrades. This website gathers and share many useful information to improve the HU via software upgrades. However, changing factors makes the newer units likely much more tricky to upgrade
xyauto no longer provide open access to software upgrades sometime between 2023-4. Thus firmware and components flashed into the latest HUs may not be available anywhere.
Newer units face more bricking risk because
The firmware that flashed the HU may not be available anywhere due to xyauto file server closure
Even if base firmware is available and same as older HUs, newer firmware components such as newer LCD display drivers not not be available
This website has archived some xyauto firmware and firmware components. But it can not be considered complete and the last access was middle of 2024. A very new HU may have firmware/components that haven't been posted by anyone.
Its interesting to consider why xyauto closed their file server access. Probably because it was creating a reasonably brick return flow back to the HU sellers and eventually trickled to the HU manufacturers and then to xyauto. AliExpress often favors the buyers on disputes to maintain the low to no risk perception. Shutting off firmware file server access will gradually reduce the buyers from flashing and bricking firmware and likely reduce the brick return volume. If this is true, firmware flashing and updates are probably gradually fading away similar to HUs running other firmwares ( generally no updates )
HU software has a file (called logo.mrf) that displays a logo immediately after HU boots from powered off state. This file also programs the LCD panel to display the logo. LCD panel upgrades are fairly rapid in these HUs for cost and resolution. Result is many many logo.mrf(s) exist for the numerous HU LCD panels. When a wrong "logo.mrf" file is installed, HU will be bricked. Furthermore, this file often hides inside xyauto's smaller update packages such as UI patch etc.
The HU owned by the authors of the website are a couple of years old now with lower resolution LCD screens compared with the commonly available higher resolution screens in the newer units. Many knowledge acquired is related to these older units. Many info are common but there are many ways to brick the HU.
Thus, newer HU owners should be aware of these factors before pursuing xyauto software upgrades. The newer HU you have, the more you need to consider a complete and thorough backup prior to flashing any xyauto packages.
5760B 5750B 7260B 7260L 7250B 7360B are all quite similar.
5760B 5750B share same firmare
7260B 7250B share same firmware
7260L can use same firmware as 7260B (post #3097)
7360B is similar to 5760B without cellular modem (post #4781)
Low cost (but you'd want a >= 2GB memory one for basic performance level)
Up to 8GB RAM and 128GB flash storage
Basic performance and much faster than 8227L based HUs (see also here)
64bit Android for 6/8GB RAM versions
Has quite a few features (backup camera, Google Play Store, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, 4G cellular (caveats, read Con section), steering wheel control integration, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay (if paid for feature), 360 camera (if paid for feature + installation))
AHD camera capable providing high definition image on backup (need AHD camera of course)
Regular firmware updates available (problems seems to be gradually fixed slowly but there are may bugs from the high feature set)
Audio quality generally terrible
Overall software quality and translations are poor
Only real Android 9, even if it's advertised with higher versions (see also here)
only 32bit Android for 2/4GB RAM versions; 64bit Android is possible via flashing (see here)
Cellular in the US quite limited (T-Mobile doesn't support IMEI so will only see Edge network. I see 3G connection on AT&T but don't have a live SIM to test), sounds like other regions don't have problems, e.g. in central Europe 4G works fine.
Better units exist, but will cost more. Higher end Chinese HUs (PX*, Joying, Teyes) and Japanese HUs. Generally better overall hardware AND software.
There are 3 threads that focus on this HU. Very long threads with a lot of info. Be aware that some info is not for this exact HU configuration (YT5760B, 1024x600 (not mipi)) so firmware, directions and app screen may be different. Its always good to verify a poster has the same HU as yours by looking at their other posts to confirm. In particular, watch out for similar but different HW of model YT7260B, 1280x720 resolution, etc.

Last 2 forums are in Russian. Turn on browser auto translate can help to understand.
4PDA account sign up (required for download attachments) does require human verification with crooked displayed texts. Took awhile using google translate image feature to answer correctly.

Many people post short message "bricked HU, help!" or "updated firmware and something doesn't work". This usually trigger a long chain of request for more detail information. This HU has many combination of software components that can be installed individually. And there are 5 different ways to brick the HU. So much information is necessary. Post the following when asking for help
Show System Info screen if have one ( link ). Of course, if don't have one and HU is bricked, can't do this
If don't have System Info screen, post as much info as you know (eg Model = YT5760B, Firmware version prior to brick 1.73.8, DDR size 4G, Display 1024*600(lvds))
If quoting a prior post, please include link to the original post. Members who reply will not spend search effort to find the quoted post to get more background.
Provide info + link where got the software that updated the HU. Update method (ota or PC flash link ) If from attachment to a post, provide link to the post
If bricked, determine which of the 5 bricks you have encountered ( link ) Post description of which of the 5 bricking issue you think you have and why evidence why this is the likely bricking issue.
Describe what you were trying to accomplish when updating the firmware.
There are really easy ways to help the online forum community at XDA. Simple ones are outlined here.
Thankfully, XYAUTO continuously upgrade firmware for these HUs. However, their primary goal is probably to supply newly made HU rather than helping existing owners to update. So its up to the owner community to provide information and knowledge on update info.
The single simplest contribution is to just post "System Info" screen after updating here:
AC8259 CPU based HU problems & questions - mainly YT5760 (XDA)
This screen tells exact model, firmware version, and display resolution. All are critical parameters when helping each other and often understanding which version, HU, OTA or PC flash and especially which resolution/display caused some problems. Even if just take a picture with a phone instead of screen capture. Make sure entire screen is captured with all info. Beauty doesn't matter, information is most important.
You might think "others already have this info", but the reality is statistics are only valid when there are more data points. Often we find more rare problems with more data points.
Slightly more additional info below can add a lot of information. The more information we have, the more we understand not documented backgrounds and problems. This helps other users to also solve these problems easily and maybe they try to upgrade to a newer version instead of staying at old firmwares.
File location (e.g. Mega repository link, link to post providing attachment).
If you needed a separat display driver also name of the file and maybe link.
Approximate date of firmware if known (not installation date). XYAUTO usually provide time stamps in original file info or directory names.
If willing to spend more time, here is an example of quite exhaustive upgrade details (link) including:
Release notes.
Scatter file image for PC flash.
Other notable changes and problems or needed workarounds.
