Welcome to the 2021 Final Event!

Get ready for two fun-filled virtual days! The 3M Young Scientist Challenge is the nation’s premier science competition for grades 5-8. This past spring, students from all over the nation submitted their big ideas to help solve everyday problems and improve lives around the world. Ten outstanding students were chosen as national finalists and have been working all summer, with the help of a 3M Scientist Mentor, to bring their innovative ideas to life.

We are thrilled to have you join this year’s culminating event in the 3M Young Scientist Challenge where one student will be named America’s Top Young Scientist. We’re incredibly proud of all of our finalists for making it to this level. Among thousands of students, this year’s final 10 have already wowed us and we have no doubt that the competition will be fierce, fun and unforgettable.
